Site Reliability Engineer

Description

This is a telecommuting role that can be done from anywhere in the U.S.

The company builds enterprise software on Linux, cloud, containers and Kubernetes, with staff across more than 40 countries and a flexible mix of in-office and remote work.

You will write and ship code and scripts that make services more reliable and able to scale, within set limits.

Responsibilities

• Review code and take part in testing to keep the codebase in good shape.
• Share what you know, help teammates, and suggest ways to improve how the team works.
• Join a recurring on-call rotation and respond to service incidents during your assigned shifts.
• Run incident response and postmortems, and record operational problems.
• Help resolve customer issues escalated from support, mainly routine ones.
• Build and improve the SRE software and tools that support team goals, and grow your own skills along the way.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field (U.S. or foreign equivalent) plus two (2) years of experience in this role or a related one, or a master's degree in computer science or a related field (U.S. or foreign equivalent).
• Working knowledge, from coursework or work experience, of the software development lifecycle, Agile or Scrum, and Python.
• Experience managing Linux systems in a public cloud, and working with Kubernetes and containers on Linux.
• Ability to troubleshoot networking problems involving TCP/IP, DNS and HTTP.
• Experience writing and maintaining Ansible playbooks, and using observability tools.

Conditions

Pay is set by job location, experience, skills, training, market rates and internal pay equity, and the base salary is $112,902 to $169,640 per year.

The actual offer depends on your qualifications, and the range may vary by location for remote U.S. roles while still reflecting your duties and experience.

Base salary is one part of total pay, and this role may also include a bonus, commission, and/or equity.
