Description

The company builds AI agents that learn how a company's processes actually run and then run those operations, targeting a hard problem in enterprise AI: generic models do not know how a specific business works.

It is a Series A startup backed by Sequoia and other venture firms, led by co-founders who built and ran Forward Deployed AI Engineering at Palantir. The team is growing in New York and London and is made up of engineers, AI researchers and strategists.

The role is the second infrastructure hire on a team that ships fast enough to be approaching GitHub's rate limits, so infrastructure needs to stay about a month ahead of demand. You will sit in key engineering meetings to get infrastructure ready before it is requested and to spot decisions that could cause infrastructure problems later.

Responsibilities

  • Own the cloud infrastructure end to end, covering provisioning, security, reliability and the infrastructure as code behind it.
  • Work directly with the founders to decide where infrastructure goes next, and have it ready before features ship.
  • Decide what gets built. Push back when a managed service already covers what someone wants to build by hand, and create new patterns where none exist.
  • Write real application software as well as the infrastructure code beneath it.
  • Run containerized workloads on AWS and GCP, defined as infrastructure as code, with Postgres underneath. Untangle early infrastructure that was built quickly and never had a full-time owner, while keeping the team moving.
  • Find where developers wait on CI, deployment or environment setup, and remove the wait. Spending to speed up the team is justified when it is rational.
  • Build the reliability practice: monitoring, logging and alerting that fails loudly with a clear signal, plus the response process when something fires.
  • Lead large infrastructure builds and own the security posture of the product.
  • Decide between building something and buying a managed service, and defend the simpler option when it is the right one.
  • Read and write Python well enough to see the infrastructure impact of what the team builds and catch problems early.
  • Govern AI model safety and agentic processes. Make sure no unsupervised agent can act on production infrastructure.
  • Pass knowledge to others. Build tooling so engineers, go-to-market, the AI team, operations and compliance can do without you what currently needs you.
  • Stay current on cloud and model providers so you can give a credible answer when an engineer brings a new announcement.

Requirements

  • 5 to 10 years in infrastructure, SRE, DevOps or platform engineering.
  • Recent, deep experience running production workloads on AWS or GCP, defined as infrastructure as code. A broad toolkit with one or two areas of real depth, and the ability to learn new services quickly.
  • Python written in real projects, alongside or inside application code.
  • Postgres in production and containerized workloads on an orchestration platform.
  • A continuous focus on security: you watch for vulnerabilities and patch often.
  • Proof that you have run an infrastructure function alone or in a very small team.
  • Examples of finding an unclear problem, designing the fix and making other people faster as a result.
  • Willingness to say no to senior people when infrastructure requires it.
  • Bonus, optional: GCP experience, especially migrations or multi-cloud rollouts.
  • Bonus, optional: CloudWatch and GitHub Actions in your current stack.
  • Bonus, optional: earlier time in technical or application support.
  • Bonus, optional: an engineering career that began outside software.
  • Bonus, optional: work in a niche domain with no standard tooling, where you had to build your own.
  • No need to match every point above. The company values people with different backgrounds, whether classically trained or self-taught, as long as they learn fast.
