Description

The team supports deployments of releases for the company's self-service products, such as kiosks and auto bag drops. An R&D team builds the releases, and this role takes them and deploys them safely into customer environments across frontend, middleware and backend components.

Roughly 70% of the work is deployments and the change management around them, from receiving a request to implementation. The other 30% is automation: alerting, monitoring and deployment scripts that make deployments faster and more reliable.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy R&D releases, upgrades and fixes for self-service products such as kiosks and auto bag drops across frontend, middleware and backend components.
  • Run pre-deployment checks and post-deployment verification to confirm products work before handover.
  • Roll back deployments when necessary and work with R&D to fix deployment issues.
  • Arrange deployment windows with customers, sites and internal teams, including out-of-hours work where required.
  • Keep deployment runbooks and documentation current and pass knowledge on to support teams.
  • Receive and work through requests (RITMs) from customers and internal teams.
  • Prepare change requests (CRs) with implementation, test and rollback plans.
  • Review change requests raised by other engineers for quality and completeness.
  • Implement approved changes and close them with the correct records.
  • Take on change and admin work for other engineers so they can focus on technical delivery.
  • Build and tune monitoring and alerting for self-service products.
  • Write and maintain deployment scripts and pipelines that make deployments consistent and repeatable.
  • Automate routine operational tasks to cut manual effort.
  • Troubleshoot deployment and production issues, resolving them or escalating to R&D.
  • Support high severity incidents and join the standby roster.
  • Help set up environments for new projects, including AWS infrastructure and deployment pipelines.

Requirements

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in deployment, DevOps, SRE, platform or application support.
  • Experience deploying and supporting applications in production.
  • Good working knowledge of ITIL change management, including RITMs and change requests.
  • Scripting skills in PowerShell and Python for automation and deployments.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring and alerting.
  • Experience with AWS and with Windows and Linux environments.
  • Kubernetes experience is a strong advantage.
  • ITIL or AWS certifications are a plus.
  • Organized, detail-focused and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Clear communicator, comfortable working with R&D, customers and teams across time zones.
