Description

The company was founded in 2022 to build chips and systems that generate output at thousands of tokens per second while running large models at very long context lengths.

It has raised $220M from investors including Founders Fund and Accel.

Inference speed is currently what holds back progress on demanding AI work such as drug discovery, software engineering and materials discovery.

Responsibilities

  • Build the control chain that powers on, monitors, updates and protects devices and racks across bare metal, RTOS and embedded Linux. This is production-critical software that keeps racks stable and hardware secure.
  • Join the first rack start-ups and rollout days, where safe updates matter most. Your work decides whether a failure is contained or recovered cleanly.
  • Develop firmware and services for management controllers at every level: rack management, BMC, and board or device controllers on RTOS or bare metal.
  • Build board and rack management systems software, from early bring-up through to production.
  • Implement the critical flows that keep fleets healthy: power-on and provisioning, monitoring and telemetry, updates, recovery and security.
  • Integrate with the host and device stack, including drivers and runtime libraries, so the whole system works end to end.
  • Work with hardware and device software teams to define reliable interfaces, check behaviour and debug problems at the boundaries.

Requirements

  • Proven experience shipping production-critical, reliable embedded systems on two or more of bare metal, RTOS and embedded Linux, or deep expertise in one with a clear ability to pick up the others.
  • Strong C, Rust or both, with sound judgement on safety, testing, debugging and failure modes.
  • A reliability-first approach: you build in observability, diagnosability and recovery paths that are predictable and testable.
  • Comfortable working near the hardware and software boundary, such as bootloaders, BSP and kernel-adjacent code, and collaborating closely with hardware, driver and runtime teams.
  • Collaborative and willing to take ownership. You communicate clearly, move quickly and enjoy solving hard problems with others.
  • A degree in computer science, electronic engineering, maths, physics or a related subject, plus 3+ years of industry experience.
  • Experience with embedded platform or systems firmware, such as board management, BMC-style stacks or rack controllers.
  • Experience with OpenBMC and/or building or customising embedded Linux images.
  • Experience with Zephyr or a similar RTOS.
  • A security mindset, with practical understanding of secure boot, signed updates, device identity and designing systems that fail safe and recover cleanly. Direct experience in some of these areas is a plus.
  • Kernel device work, including drivers, device tree, bring-up, and performance and trace tooling.
  • Hardware bring-up experience using lab tools such as logic analysers, oscilloscopes and waveform viewers.
  • Familiarity with RISC-V.
  • Experience with GPUs or ML accelerators.

Conditions

The company is committed to equal employment opportunity and to building a diverse, inclusive team.

The work involves technologies subject to UK, US and other international export control regulations. Some roles may need extra eligibility checks, and the company will say so during hiring.

Benefits

  • A competitive salary that reflects your experience and the specialist nature of the role.
  • Meaningful equity, so everyone shares in the value the company creates.
  • Private medical, dental and vision cover, a contributory pension, and life and critical illness insurance.
  • 25 days of holiday plus bank holidays.
