Description

The company makes memory and storage products, and this role sits in the team that studies data center workloads.

You will build data center scale performance and power models and the software tools and analysis frameworks behind them, to project how the company's SSD and memory products perform under current and emerging workloads, with a focus on AI training, inference and large scale data analytics.

The work mixes lab testing, software development and collaboration with architects, product engineers and system designers, and it leaves room to grow your expertise in data center performance modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Test server platforms and measure throughput, latency, bandwidth use, endurance and power, then use those results to validate your models.
  • Build performance and power models for SSDs and DRAM in servers and data centers.
  • Write tools in Python, C/C++ or a similar language, and use benchmarks, workload traces and field telemetry to project performance.
  • Analyze AI and data-intensive workloads, comparing performance, power and cost across compute, memory, storage and interconnect options.
  • Share your model assumptions, results and recommendations, and contribute to simulation or emulation work when needed.

Requirements

  • A BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field, plus 3+ years of relevant industry experience; or an MS, PhD or equivalent experience, plus 1+ years. Graduate research in systems performance or architecture counts toward the experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux servers and physical hardware.
  • Experience writing software for modeling, simulation, data analysis or automation.
  • Experience building or extending a performance, power or analytical model and checking it against measured data.
  • Working knowledge of compute, memory, storage and interconnect systems, including PCIe, DMA and memory fundamentals.
  • The ability to explain technical findings clearly.

Conditions

The US base salary range the company estimates it could pay for this full-time role is $116,000.00 - $198,000.00 a year.
