Description

This role sits within the vehicle electrical controls area and covers propulsion (combustion engines and electric machines), high-voltage batteries, active safety, autonomous driving, body electronics, infotainment, telematics and chassis controls.

You will work across all of these domains, so the role involves regular interaction and input from each one.

The team is the Global Sub System Leadership Team, and the company tracks its change requests and design approvals through a structured review process.

Responsibilities

  • Define control functions, partitioning and interface designs so electrical systems and subsystems meet their performance and functional requirements.
  • Write system design readiness documents that turn requirements into system components, then assign those components to ECUs in the most effective way.
  • Carry out system design readiness modeling as part of the domain analysis of functional subsystems and diagnostic requirements.
  • Define how signals sent and received on CAN, LIN and Ethernet affect serial data.
  • Partition the infrastructure and standard utility models at a high level, down to the internal ECU software application, including security and safety interfaces.
  • Document the system design in IBM Rational Rhapsody, a UML tool.
  • Define network signals and place the structured components into the relevant electronics module models.
  • Attend weekly RAD and GSSLT meetings, track change requests and obtain stakeholder approvals.
  • Support stakeholder groups under the configuration management rules (RTC CRs).
  • Review the models to confirm that the system design submitted and agreed by stakeholders is faithfully represented.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in electronics, software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience as a software engineer, test engineer, programmer or developer, or in a similar role.
  • 5 years of experience with propulsion systems, ADAS, chassis, electrification or other electrical automotive control systems.
  • 2 years of experience with system engineering and software modeling concepts, electrical schematic diagrams, SAFe and Agile product development, software deployment environments, embedded real-time operating systems, and AUTOSAR software constructs and their implementation.
  • 1 year of experience with service-oriented communication protocols such as SOME/IP, and with software and hardware design and their failure modes.

Conditions

The role is hybrid: 3 days in the office and 2 days remote, and you must be able to report to the local office.

Applicants may be asked to complete a role-related assessment and/or a pre-employment screening before they start, where applicable.

The company is committed to being free of unlawful discrimination and to building an inclusive workplace.

Benefits

  • Support for your well-being at work and at home from day one.
  • Details of the rewards package are available through the company's total rewards resources.
