Description

The company runs clinical studies and needs a senior statistical programmer to lead programming work on them. The role is at the Senior Statistical Programmer II level, and the posting covers both the I and II grades in the title.

The work centres on delivering programming outputs that are high in quality and on time, following the team's established standards and processes. You work independently on the programming tasks, and you decide when a complex situation calls for seeking guidance.

You may lead the programming for a clinical study or for a small to medium sized clinical project. You may also lead cross-functional teams on continuous improvement work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the programming delivery for a single clinical study or for a small to medium sized, complex clinical project.
  • Implement the statistical programming parts of the protocol or the wider clinical development programme.
  • Build high quality into your own work and into the work of other programmers.
  • Program independently, with high efficiency and accuracy.
  • Write specifications and make sure the related documentation is complete.
  • Help create or lead best practice work that improves quality, efficiency and effectiveness across the function.
  • Make sure work follows standards and makes appropriate use of automation.
  • Plan the tasks and activities of the team and lead them.
  • Spot, manage and report risks on the studies or projects you are assigned to.
  • Work closely with the statistician, lead programmer, data manager, study leader and other study team members.
  • Work cooperatively with contract programming providers.
  • Advise stakeholders with your subject matter expertise on programming questions.
  • Contribute to or lead technical initiatives.
  • Apply project management practices to the programming side of drug or technical projects.

Requirements

  • A degree in mathematics (such as applied maths or engineering), statistics, computer science, life sciences or an equivalent field.
  • Excellent SAS programming skills, including macro language.
  • Demonstrated experience programming in R.
  • Experience programming in Python.
  • Ability to work with AI-enabled solutions, such as building or using AI agents.
  • Proficient knowledge of the clinical development process.
  • Thorough knowledge of industry standards.
  • Ability to apply programming knowledge to solve problems.
  • Ability to manage the relevant documentation.
  • Ability to influence relevant stakeholders on programming matters.
  • Desirable: ability to manage several concurrent activities within a study or part of a project.

Conditions

Hybrid working: 3 days in the office and 2 days remote each week.
