The company is an embedded semiconductor solutions provider serving automotive, industrial, infrastructure and IoT markets, with more than 21,000 engineers in over 30 countries.
This is a technical leadership role covering the global compute and CAD infrastructure used for semiconductor development.
The work mixes hands-on engineering with architecture and day-to-day operational ownership of Linux compute, engineering workspaces, project provisioning, LSF, EDA license servers, Perforce, monitoring and automation.
You will work with engineering, CAD and IT/IS teams to build environments that are scalable, reliable and consistent across the globe.
Responsibilities
Lead the technical direction of global EDA compute infrastructure, including interactive and batch environments.
Build and support Linux-based engineering environments, and troubleshoot complex compute and environment problems.
Work with IT/IS on compute, storage, networking and server needs, and contribute to capacity planning and technical roadmaps.
Automate work to improve reliability and cut manual administration.
Own and develop the architecture for engineering projects and workspaces, including the mechanisms that create and initialize them.
Keep project configuration running and make environment setup consistent across projects and sites.
Build interfaces between project configuration, PDKs, EDA tools and engineering workflows.
Offer extensible ways for project teams to customize their environments while staying on a supported platform standard.
Reduce manual steps in project setup and lifecycle management.
Lead the technical side of global EDA license-server infrastructure, and create standard approaches for license deployment and administration.
Automate license updates, validation and auditing.
Write robust Python, shell and other automation for CAD infrastructure, and maintain engineering utilities and infrastructure scripts.
Automate configuration generation, provisioning, monitoring and administration.
Connect CAD infrastructure with Jenkins/CI and service-management workflows where it makes sense.
Improve observability, auditability and maintainability of infrastructure services.
Build dashboards and metrics for engineering infrastructure, and monitor compute and license use.
Spot capacity, performance and reliability risks, and work with infrastructure teams on forward capacity planning.
Create ways to detect inefficient use of shared engineering resources.
Help shape the supported Linux OS strategy for EDA, coordinate tool compatibility with IT/IS, and support moves between Linux platform generations.
Set clear engineering requirements for infrastructure standards, and separate application requirements from infrastructure operational ownership.
Maintain architecture and operations documentation for critical CAD infrastructure, including scripts, configuration, dependencies and recovery procedures.
Act as the escalation point for complex infrastructure problems.
Train CAD engineers and IT/IS staff so the team does not depend on a few individuals.
Set up sustainable primary and backup ownership for critical services, and design resilience and failover strategies.
Work with regional CAD teams and IT/IS to standardize license infrastructure worldwide, and support license capacity monitoring, planning and reporting on availability and use.
Provide EDA expertise for LSF compute environments, and work with IT/IS on LSF architecture, provisioning and resource sharing.
Develop ways to monitor compute utilization and efficiency, and support links between project environments and batch compute.
Detect and automate the identification of inefficient or problematic workloads, and contribute to compute capacity planning.
Provide engineering-side expertise for Perforce server infrastructure and operations, including the architecture used by semiconductor engineering teams.
Work with IT/IS on server lifecycle, availability, storage, backup and operational ownership.
Support administration and troubleshooting of engineering Perforce environments, and build automation and monitoring around them.
Keep operational documentation and procedures for Perforce up to date.
