Description

The team is hiring technologists for pre-sales, where growth depends on strong technical direction for the platform and customer needs.

Pre-sales solution architects guide customers and users in designing and building reliable, scalable systems on the company's data platform. The team includes experienced technical sellers, architects, founders and developers, who own customer outcomes including software design, deployment and operations.

You will work with sales executives to solve customer business problems with the company's products and help win deals. You act as a trusted adviser to users, from startups to the largest enterprise IT organisations.

The company's data platform is the only globally distributed, multi-cloud option on the market and runs on AWS, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure. Over 67,000 customers rely on it, including AI-native startups and about 75% of the Fortune 100.

Training covers the core database server, the cloud service's stream processing, data lake, full-text and vector search and charting tools, and the company's relational migration tool, alongside Apache Kafka, Kubernetes, hyperscaler design, and generative AI architectures.

Requisition ID 426498.

Responsibilities

  • Design scalable, high-performance applications, systems and infrastructure for large software projects on the company's platform.
  • Advise customers on architecture patterns and optimisation, and explain the business value to the right stakeholders.
  • Work with sales on account plans, opportunity prioritisation and qualification, and pipeline generation, and own the technical side: discovery, demos, proofs of value, presentations, sizing and documentation.
  • Create demand in your territory through self-led technical work, trade shows and account-based marketing events.
  • Build strong customer relationships and champions, and drive their success and satisfaction.
  • Look for ways to improve the platform and processes, relay field feedback to product, and mentor Solutions Consulting colleagues.
  • Keep up with the product range and industry trends through ongoing training.
  • Work on complex opportunities that need in-depth analysis of many factors.

Requirements

  • Ideally 8 to 11 years in customer-facing roles, including 5 to 7 years in pre-sales for enterprise software.
  • At least 3 years of professional use of modern scripting languages (for example Python, Node.js, SQL) and/or widely used languages (for example C/C++, Java, C).
  • Experience designing scalable, highly available distributed systems in the cloud and on-premises.
  • Proven ability to review complex existing architectures with customers and advise on technology-based improvements.
  • Strong presentation, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical and business ideas clearly to technology and business leaders.
  • Able to advise sales teams on a multi-threaded account strategy, bringing in company and ecosystem resources toward a mutually beneficial account plan.
  • Able to travel up to 25%.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • May also have: experience selling databases and/or deploying applications with major cloud providers.
  • May also have: database programming and data model experience.
  • May also have: experience in data engineering or AI/ML projects.
  • May also have: experience transforming legacy systems into modern, scalable, efficient technology stacks.
  • May also have: understanding of sales methodologies or frameworks such as MEDDPICC and Command of the Message.
  • May also have: a company database certification.
  • May also have: a cloud provider certification.
