Senior Solution Architect - Land Systems (Technical Directorate)

This senior role is part of the technical directorate of the Belgian entity, where you set the technical policy for land systems together with other engineering offices.

Responsibilities

• Shape the architecture vision for complex defence solutions, covering stakeholder needs, operational context, system boundaries and interfaces across wider mission ecosystems.
• Assess candidate solution architectures against operational needs, technical limits, product strategy, cost targets and programme schedules, then recommend the best option.
• Lead the solution architecture work, weighing performance, risk, maturity, interoperability and affordability, while documenting the architecture artefacts and checking lower-level specifications.
• Coordinate engineering and integration across the solution lifecycle and set up co-engineering ways of working with multidisciplinary teams.
• Make sure the architecture delivers mission-ready, interoperable, secure and scalable defence capabilities.
• Give senior expertise on architecture definition, challenge engineering approaches and validate design decisions.

Requirements

• A degree in engineering, computer science, systems engineering or a related field, plus solid experience designing complex systems.
• Initial or proven experience as a system or solution architect in a system-of-systems environment.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills across engineering, programme and customer groups.
• A collaborative mindset and a readiness to work closely with customers and end users so the solution stays aligned with operational needs.
• Leadership skills to guide teams through collaboration, structured problem solving and constructive challenge.
• The ability to influence, persuade and build consensus in technically complex, operationally demanding settings.
• A proactive, accountable and solution-oriented attitude.
