The role is Senior Software Engineer, based at 811 Excellence Dr, Bentonville, AR 72716.
The work covers a full software lifecycle: requirements, design, coding, testing, defect handling, maintenance and schedule tracking.
Responsibilities
Look through existing products and solutions to see which could meet a business or technical need, and find the gaps between them and what customers expect, adjusting per iteration if the team works in agile.
Sort requirements into types such as functional, non-functional, derived, imposed or emergent.
Spot likely risks and problems while gathering requirements, tell the right stakeholders, and propose fixes.
Help write user stories for components, applications and complex features when working in agile.
Help design solutions so that processes and applications work together across the modules of a product, weighing trade-offs against business requirements.
Help turn high-level designs into detailed designs, including mock screens, pseudocode and functional logic for each module.
Write lean, configured code for whole components and applications so they meet business, technical and non-functional needs, including maintainability, availability and scalability.
Help choose languages such as JavaScript, Python or C, development standards and tools for coding and configuration.
Learn the basics of new languages and frameworks that will be useful for future work.
Write scripts that automate repetitive and routine tasks in CI/CD, testing or other processes where applicable.
Build telemetry features when needed, working independently.
Make sure security policy requirements are applied to components and applications while code is written or configured.
Map customer requirements to test objectives, then create and run test cases for components and modules using suitable testing tools.
Track and analyse defects in a component or module, run regression tests after every code change to fix them, and review defects from past projects to prevent repeats.
Diagnose performance and availability bottlenecks in applications.
Carry out complex maintenance on applications independently, including corrective, adaptive and perfective work and re-engineering.
Monitor application performance through relevant metrics, analyse logs, maintenance data and performance data, and report your findings.
Assess change requests to decide which are valid and feasible.
Keep the project on track against approved milestones and timelines.
