Description

You will join the Propulsion Thermal group within the Vehicle Mechatronic Embedded Controls (VMEC) organization, working on the controls, diagnostics and controller communication behind integrated thermal loops.

The role centres on software and control logic that balances energy use against thermal storage capacity.

The team works in an agile setup, and you will act as the go-to expert on your Scrum team's content.

Responsibilities

  • Define, design and build control systems, diagnostics and controller communications for thermal loops.
  • Develop software and controls that manage integrated thermal loops for efficient energy use and thermal storage.
  • Take part in building controls and diagnostics using the common methods used across VMEC features.
  • Work with the Program Management Team to shape the program vision, roadmap and program backlog.
  • Work with the System Architect to decide on enablers and plan their rollout.
  • Manage dependencies on other Product Owners when your deliverables rely on other teams, joining PO synchronizations as needed.
  • Maintain and rank the team backlog, and work with the Scrum Team Leader to judge team capacity.
  • Turn product and feature strategy into user stories, and help the team define, estimate and sequence them for Program Increment Planning.
  • Clarify requirements with the team every day and keep everyone aligned on feature and product strategy.
  • Write clear acceptance criteria that support Behavior Driven Development (BDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD).
  • Advise on the demonstration strategy when stories are created, including unit, integration and system test approaches.
  • Check that stories can be tested and can produce test objectives.
  • Make sure features are validated and tested before End User Acceptance.
  • Protect the technical integrity of the product so it serves program priorities.
  • Accept stories, join team demos and retrospectives, and give feedback that improves quality and team processes.
  • Confirm stories meet their acceptance criteria, have lasting acceptance tests, and satisfy the Definition of Done (DoD).
  • Attend Program Increment Planning, iteration retrospectives, ART inspection and adapt sessions, and PO/ART synchronizations.
  • Coach and guide Scrum Team members.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical or computer engineering, computer science, or a closely related engineering field, plus five years of experience as a software engineer, validation engineer, test engineer or in a similar role.
  • Or a master's degree in one of those same fields, plus three years of experience as a software engineer, validation engineer, test engineer or in a similar role.
  • Three years of experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) integration and regression testing for electronic control units (ECUs).
  • Three years of experience testing embedded ECUs on machines and test benches with dSPACE HIL, Vector CANape, CANalyzer, CANoe and CAT ET.
  • Three years of experience writing automated test scripts for machine-level features in C and Python.
  • Three years of experience building CANalyzer databases that parse software CAN communication data.
  • Three years of experience designing and building machine plant, input/output (I/O) and Controller Area Network (CAN) simulation models in MATLAB and Simulink.
