Senior Software Engineer, Prime Brokerage Technology (AVP)

Prime Brokerage Technology builds the systems behind the company's Prime Finance clients and traders, forming the technical core of that business.

The company sees Prime Brokerage as a major growth area, and technology is central to unlocking it.

Prime Finance competes in a crowded market, serving institutions such as hedge funds with strong financing and stock borrow capabilities.

Clients depend on these platforms to process transactions, payments and reporting accurately, every day.

The team is midway through replacing legacy components with test-driven, cloud-native microservices built for stability, scale and faster releases.

Responsibilities

• Build and support Cash and Fixed Income data processing components in Java or Kotlin on the Prime Brokerage Technology platform.
• Write and maintain automated tests that developers own as part of normal delivery.
• Deliver work in an Agile team that puts heavy emphasis on continuous integration and continuous deployment.
• Take part in design, planning and estimation discussions.
• Work with colleagues across teams to integrate functions and support new products and process improvements.
• Investigate technical problems by examining business processes, system behavior and industry standards.
• Deepen your application programming skills while keeping your code consistent with the architecture blueprint.
• Learn how the system flows and contribute to coding, testing, debugging and implementation standards.
• Build a wider view of how architecture, infrastructure and other business functions support business goals.
• Apply analytical thinking to define problems clearly and shape practical fixes.
• Share knowledge with junior colleagues and grow toward technical leadership.
• Other job-related duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

• Experience delivering software iteratively using Agile methods.
• Exposure to quality-focused engineering, including developer-led automated testing, CI/CD, microservices, containerized deployment and cloud engineering.
• A record of owning work and delivering dependable results for business users.
• Comfort working with product owners to understand requirements and explore solutions.
• Ability to juggle several tasks or projects at once.
• Practical JVM development skills in Kotlin, Java or Scala.
• Working understanding of HTTP and REST-based architectures.
• Basic knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
• Knowledge of test automation approaches such as TDD and BDD.
• Familiarity with Agile and DevOps practices, including continuous integration, test automation, frequent releases and containerization.
• A collaborative, open communication style and a willingness to contribute ideas within a team.
• Pride in delivering solutions that make users happy.
• Prior exposure to Prime Brokerage is a plus but not essential.
• Exposure to tools such as Jenkins, Kubernetes, OpenShift and Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a plus.
• A degree in a technical or quantitative discipline is preferred, such as Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field.
• Takes ownership of the timeliness and quality of their own work.
• Communicates and collaborates well with business users and other technology teams.
• Looks for ways to refine processes and practices as part of a culture of continuous improvement.
• Comfortable giving and receiving open, honest feedback.

Conditions

Full-time position based in Tampa, Florida, United States.

Base salary range is $96,960.00 to $145,440.00.

Eligible employees may also receive discretionary and formulaic incentive and retention awards.
