Description

The team builds and runs the platforms and services that connect the company's vehicles to the cloud. The work spans cloud, network and in-vehicle integrations, with the aim of connectivity that is reliable, secure and scalable for current and future connected vehicle experiences.

The role suits an engineer who is happy to own complex distributed systems, work with internal and external partners, and stay hands-on from architecture through production support.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain Java microservices on Spring Boot 3.2+ and Java 17+ in a cloud-native setup.
  • Build and support event-driven integrations with Spring Kafka, covering producers, consumers, error handling, retries and monitoring.
  • Design and tune PostgreSQL schemas, queries and migrations so data stays intact and performs well.
  • Build and improve Datadog dashboards, metrics, logs, traces and alerts for the services you own.
  • Work with product, architecture and other engineering teams in the carrier and vehicle services platform area to clarify requirements and ship features.
  • Troubleshoot production issues with operations teams through log and metric analysis and root-cause investigations, and take part in on-call rotations for carrier and vehicle experience services.
  • Review code, help shape coding standards, and push for quality, performance and security.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation, runbooks and support guides.
  • Mentor teammates and act as a technical sounding board to raise engineering practice.
  • Take part in agile planning, estimation and continuous improvement.
  • Write automated functional tests for components and system-level quality checks.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience building production-grade services or platforms.
  • Hands-on cloud-native development, including microservices and REST or gRPC APIs.
  • Experience with containers and orchestration, such as Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
  • A track record of designing and operating scalable distributed systems with strong reliability, observability and performance.
  • Experience working in agile teams across product, operations, architecture and security.
  • Experience with Spring, Event Hub messaging and Azure.
  • Preferred: experience with microservice development, Spring Boot 3.2+, Java 17+, Spring Kafka, PostgreSQL, Azure and Datadog.
  • Preferred: experience with Python, pytest, Robot or Autobot, Jenkins, Appium or other automation frameworks.
