Senior Software Engineer

Description

The team builds software and hardware-based satellite simulators and emulators that support satellite systems for U.S. government and commercial customers.

You will design, build, test and maintain real-time Attitude Control Subsystem (ACS) models and integrate them into system-level simulators.

The work runs in a fast CI/CD setup with agile delivery and modern tools, across several software projects at once.

The team is collaborative and multi-disciplinary, and it values people who are willing to try new approaches.

Responsibilities

• Take part in the full development life cycle: requirements definition and analysis, architecture, design, coding, unit testing, integration, documentation and formal qualification.
• Write software verification plans, test procedures and test environments.
• Work with a technically varied user community and with an integrated product team of systems and software engineers.
• Carry out trade studies and detailed designs, both on your own and with others.
• Lead the delivery of high-impact solutions to complex technical problems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher.
• Active U.S. Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. A clearance held within the past 24 months counts as active.
• 10+ years of experience leading modeling and simulation work, systems engineering, or software development and sustainment.
• 5+ years of experience with modern programming and scripting languages such as C++, Java, JavaScript, Perl, Python or Visual Basic.
• 5+ years of experience building software that represents physical processes and scientific phenomena.
• Experience using Git in a Linux environment.
• Preferred: a Bachelor of Science from an accredited program in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science or computer science, plus 14+ years of related work experience; or a Bachelor's degree plus 18+ years of directly related work experience; or 22+ years of related, relevant experience.
• Preferred: a solid mathematical and engineering background in complex physical systems, such as rigid-body dynamics, kinematics and numerical integration methods like Runge-Kutta.
• Preferred: direct experience modeling satellite Attitude and Orbit Control Systems (AOCS/GNC) or working with flight software.
• Preferred: experience converting MATLAB/Simulink models into optimized C++ or Rust production code.
• Preferred: experience running large-scale simulation workloads on cloud infrastructure, AWS or Azure.

Conditions

Full-time onsite work is expected, at one of the listed locations in El Segundo, CA.

Shift 1, United States of America.

Relocation is offered based on eligibility, and basic relocation is offered to eligible internal candidates.

Pay depends on experience, qualifications, and market and business considerations.
