This senior software engineer role covers the full span of software work, from gathering requirements and designing solutions through coding, testing and maintaining applications.
The role is based at 1375 Crossman Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94089.
Responsibilities
Judge the gaps, updates and changes needed between customer and business expectations and the current product and solutions, per iteration if the team works in agile.
Sort requirements into their applicable types.
Spot likely risks and problems while gathering requirements, tell the relevant stakeholders, and propose fixes.
Help write user stories for software components, applications or complex systems.
Help design solutions so that processes and applications work together across the components and modules of a product, weighing trade-offs against business requirements.
Help turn high-level designs into detailed designs covering mock screens, pseudo code and functional logic for specific modules and components.
Write and configure lean code for whole components or applications, making sure they meet business, technical and non-functional needs, including low maintenance, high availability and high scalability.
Help choose suitable languages, development standards and tools for coding and configuration.
Proactively learn the basics of new languages and frameworks that will be useful later.
Script automation for repetitive, routine work in CI/CD, testing and other processes.
Add telemetry features on your own initiative where needed.
Make sure security policy requirements are applied to components and applications during coding and configuration.
Translate customer requirements into test objectives, then design and run test cases to find errors and defects across the component.
Choose the right testing tools and run each type of test the work requires.
Track and analyse defects in components or modules and run regression tests after every code change to fix them.
Review defects from earlier engineering work to prevent similar ones from returning.
Find and fix performance and availability bottlenecks in applications.
Carry out complex maintenance on applications independently.
Track key metrics to monitor and assess application performance.
Carry out corrective, adaptive and perfective maintenance, plus re-engineering.
Analyse application logs, maintenance records and performance data, and report your findings.
Assess change requests to determine which are valid and feasible.
