Description

The team builds and maintains software for aeronautical simulation systems.

You will mainly write C++ on Linux, helping design, build, integrate and verify sturdy, maintainable and reusable components across complex simulation projects with other engineers.

Strong C++, solid Linux skills and a sound grasp of current development tools and practices are the core of the job.

Flight simulation or aeronautical experience is a plus, but engineers from other fields are welcome to apply.

The employer works in defence and space.

Responsibilities

  • Build, debug and troubleshoot C++ software on Linux.
  • Design and maintain well-built software components.
  • Help shape architecture and technical decisions toward modular, maintainable and reusable code.
  • Handle dependencies and build configuration with CMake and Conan.
  • Track changes in Git and work closely with the team.
  • Use Docker to keep development, integration and test environments consistent.
  • Write and maintain automated tests, and support verification, code quality and continuous integration.
  • Run static analysis and code quality tools to find and fix problems.
  • Take part in code reviews, technical discussions and improvement efforts.
  • Work with other engineering disciplines to bring software into simulation systems.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of professional software development, with substantial C++ work.
  • Working knowledge of modern C++ (C++14/17 or later), including the STL, memory management, object-oriented design and good engineering practice.
  • Solid Linux experience: command-line tools, shell scripting, development and debugging.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and building with CMake.
  • Preferably experience managing packages and dependencies with Conan.
  • Proficiency with Git and collaborative version control.
  • Practical Docker use for development, testing or integration.
  • Good grasp of software testing, debugging, troubleshooting and code quality.
  • Ability to analyse complex technical problems, work independently and own deliverables.
  • Clear communication and effective collaboration in an international engineering setting.
  • Awareness of compliance risks and a commitment to acting with integrity.
  • Desired: experience with flight simulation systems, simulation frameworks or simulation software.
  • Desired: familiarity with flight simulation architectures, relevant standards and interoperability concepts.
  • Desired: experience with aeronautical systems, avionics, flight dynamics models or aircraft systems simulation.
  • Desired: familiarity with automated test frameworks, unit and integration testing and code coverage.
  • Desired: experience with Jenkins, SonarQube and Clang-Tidy.
  • Desired: knowledge of architecture principles, design patterns and reusable components.
  • Desired: experience with Model-in-the-Loop (MIL), Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test environments.
  • Desired: experience in aerospace, defence or other complex engineering domains.
