Description

The role is on the Credit Commercial Engineering team and involves designing and delivering software. You will own well-defined features and components within a larger product area, and help the team hit quarterly milestones.

You will work on moderately complex problems and use good judgment, with growing independence. Collaboration with teammates and cross-functional partners is central to keeping work aligned and delivering reliable results.

The company builds a card issuing platform that lets businesses issue cards, authorize transactions and manage payments in real time. It is one of the earliest players in embedded finance.

There are two open positions for an existing vacancy.

Hiring steps: a recruiter video call, a pair programming interview, an interview with an engineering leader, and a virtual onsite of three rounds of 45 to 60 minutes each.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build high-performance systems for high-volume, fast-moving financial data and complex compliance rules.
  • Build software and infrastructure that make releases repeatable and high quality, automating manual work where you can so engineers can focus on harder problems.
  • Investigate and fix critical production issues across services and layers of the stack.
  • Factor in customer needs and product stakeholder input to pick technical solutions that deliver customer value quickly.
  • Analyze data, spot patterns and write clear documentation for non-technical readers.
  • Lead design for medium-sized components or features, and contribute to designs for larger ones, growing from task-level to project-level impact.
  • Review complex data carefully and explain it clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of industry software development experience in Java, service-oriented architectures and cloud computing. AWS experience is preferred.
  • Experience with Java and Spring Boot.
  • Experience with React or Next.js, plus working knowledge of CSS and HTML.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, or both.
  • Familiarity with common design patterns for scalable distributed systems and core computer science concepts.
  • Experience with OAuth 2.0, JWTs and user session management.
  • Experience designing, building and maintaining web and mobile applications.
  • Ability to write clean, readable, error-free code with solid documentation and testing.
  • Ability to understand existing designs and technology choices, and change them when needed.
  • Clear, concise and respectful communication, both spoken and written.
  • Willingness to share information, including difficult task-level trade-offs that affect the product.
  • Humility, empathy, and openness to constructive feedback.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, including working cross-functionally and delivering projects.
  • A drive to grow, learn, share ideas and help others do the same.
  • Ability to work productively on cross-functional teams with a collaborative approach.
  • Nice to haves: experience in payments or FinTech; experience with big data analytics tools such as Snowflake and with stream processing architectures; contributions to technical blogs, a public GitHub repository or open source projects.
