Description

The company builds AI and high-performance computing infrastructure and is widely seen as a top employer in technology.

The team owns the management plane that creates, upgrades, scales and runs Kubernetes clusters on customer-managed infrastructure, supporting demanding AI and high-performance computing workloads.

As a senior engineer you will set technical direction, lead work across teams and mentor other engineers while shipping production-ready software.

Responsibilities

  • Build management plane features for cluster lifecycle (compose, upgrade, scale, repair, delete), node management, and fleet-wide health and status reporting, from development through production.
  • Design and implement Kubernetes controllers, operators and custom resource definitions (CRDs) in Go, with reconciliation that is reliable and idempotent.
  • Automate cluster provisioning on bare metal, virtualized and cloud environments using Cluster API-style concepts and infrastructure providers.
  • Lead technical builds by writing build docs, running build reviews and aligning partner teams across software and hardware.
  • Find and fix performance, reliability and security problems in complex asynchronous distributed systems, including production debugging.
  • Own the test strategy across unit, integration and end-to-end tests, and automate build, test and release pipelines.
  • Mentor engineers, strengthen code reviews, and keep documentation and runbooks accurate and up to date.
  • Set priorities across competing tasks without lowering code quality.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of relevant software engineering experience, including building and operating production distributed systems.
  • Strong skill in a systems language (Go, C++, Rust or Java), with solid data structures and algorithms knowledge and the ability to become productive in Go quickly.
  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes and container orchestration, including the API server, controllers and reconciliation loops.
  • Experience building and developing distributed systems, including consistency, availability and failure handling at scale.
  • Experience automating with tools such as Ansible and Terraform, and establishing and managing CI/CD systems.
  • Solid Linux fundamentals and an understanding of performance, security and reliability in distributed environments.
  • A record of leading technical builds and mentoring engineers.
  • Nice to have: broad Go experience, especially concurrency and testing, and client-go or controller-runtime.
  • Nice to have: significant hands-on experience running Kubernetes at scale, including control plane and etcd scalability and availability.
  • Nice to have: experience with Cluster API or infrastructure providers on bare metal, vSphere, OpenStack or AWS, and solid use of GitLab, Jenkins or other CI/CD platforms.
  • Nice to have: expert knowledge of Linux kernel and system internals, or experience with GPU or DPU-accelerated infrastructure.
  • Nice to have: open-source contributions to Kubernetes or related cloud-native projects.
