Senior Software Engineer

Description

The role is a senior software engineering position on a team that builds software powering digital experiences for millions of users.

The company builds and maintains products and features, and the team works on both new products and improvements to existing ones.

Responsibilities

• Build scalable, reliable and maintainable software across the full stack.
• Own features from start to finish, working with product managers to turn requirements into sound architecture.
• Create intuitive, extensible user interfaces using modern UI frameworks such as React, Angular or Vue.
• Design and ship new products and features, and improve existing capabilities.
• Build automated testing into your work, covering functional, integration, regression and performance testing.
• Review designs and code, promoting good engineering practice, performance and maintainability.
• Diagnose complex system problems, improve performance, and strengthen reliability, observability and production readiness.
• Share knowledge and practices that help the team keep raising its engineering standards.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software engineering experience delivering high-quality products.
• Skill in JavaScript, Python, Java or a similar object-oriented language.
• Experience with a modern front-end framework such as React, Angular or Vue.
• Solid grounding in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design and design patterns.
• Hands-on work with test automation and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong problem-solving skills, including optimising performance across the stack.
• Familiarity with development tools such as IDEs, debuggers, profilers, source control and Unix-based systems.
• Experience using AI-powered tools or workflows, including checking datasets, model outputs or inference consistency.
• Critical thinking about using AI to improve workflows, decisions and problem-solving, shown in your past work. This may include automating workflows, analysing AI-driven insights, or assessing AI's possible effect on your function or industry.

Conditions

Australian citizenship is mandatory for this role.

You must be able to obtain and keep an Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance.

You must currently live in Australia.

If offered the role, you must be willing to go through and pass the security clearance assessment and adjudication process.

Work personas (flexible, remote or required in office) are assigned based on the nature of the work and your assigned work location.

To check eligibility for a work persona, the company may use a third-party service to measure the distance between your main residence and the nearest office.
