Senior Software Engineer (Storage) - remote in the US

Description

The team builds software that provisions, connects, and runs high-performance storage for GPU-accelerated compute and AI platforms.

The work covers control-plane services, drivers, and tooling that link enterprise and scale-out storage systems to Kubernetes workloads in hybrid, edge, and air-gapped deployments on the company K0rdent stack.

The company is a Kubernetes-native AI infrastructure company and part of IREN.

You would work directly with GPU cloud operators, NeoClouds, sovereign clouds, and AI-first enterprises, alongside a distributed team that values openness and technical depth.

You would also help shape the product direction and support go-to-market efforts.

Responsibilities

• Design and build control-plane services, drivers such as CSI, and tooling that provision, configure, and run storage for Kubernetes-based AI and compute workloads.
• Integrate high-performance platforms such as Dell PowerScale, VAST, and comparable systems into automated, declarative provisioning workflows.
• Build data-path, telemetry, and observability tools that find and fix performance, reliability, and scaling problems.
• Write production-quality Go with strong tests, careful code review, and sound operational practices.
• Build infrastructure-as-code in Terraform or OpenTofu and GitOps pipelines in ArgoCD or Flux to manage storage configuration and its lifecycle.
• Support bare-metal and hybrid provisioning where storage meets host and cluster bring-up.
• Deliver storage integration for k0s Kubernetes through Cluster API and K0rdent management and child cluster topologies.
• Design storage software for fully disconnected air-gapped environments, including local artifact and mirror access through Harbor and PKI and TLS requirements.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of software development on production systems, with Go as a primary language.
• At least 5 years building or integrating distributed, scale-out, NAS, or object storage systems at scale.
• Hands-on experience with high-performance storage platforms such as Dell PowerScale, VAST, or comparable products.
• A solid grasp of storage fundamentals, including file, block, and object models, throughput and latency, caching, consistency, and failure modes.
• Experience with Kubernetes storage, including CSI, persistent volumes, and storage classes, plus infrastructure-as-code.
• Clear written and spoken communication with technical audiences.
• You think in systems and data paths, reason about the tradeoffs across a storage stack, and turn that into clean, testable code.
• You are self-directed and can take ambiguous problems from start to finish.
• Preferred: Proficiency in Python, Rust, or both, in addition to Go.
• Preferred: Experience with the company K0rdent stack, including K0rdent Enterprise, K0rdent AI, k0s, and MKE, and with Cluster API.
• Preferred: Experience developing storage for GPU and AI workloads, such as high-throughput data pipelines and GPUDirect Storage.
• Preferred: Proven work in sovereign or high-security air-gapped environments.
