Senior Software Engineer, Workforce Payments

Responsibilities

• Own large-scope projects from initial discovery through launch, focusing on outcomes and customer impact.
• Work with a cross-functional team to solve customer problems.
• Improve the performance, reliability and scalability of existing systems.
• Add capabilities to the high-volume, fault-tolerant processing infrastructure.
• Enhance testing, monitoring and continuous deployment infrastructure.
• Keep highly sensitive data compartmentalized and secure.
• Lead technical decisions and take initiative in finding projects that help meet key business goals, such as scaling tax and money movement capabilities, improving financial ledger integrity, and building robust platform interfaces for payroll data.
• Promote engineering excellence through technical leadership, knowledge-sharing and mentorship.

Requirements

• Have at least 7 years of professional hands-on experience.
• Have mastered modern server-side languages.
• Be proficient with SQL.
• Be proficient in cloud infrastructure management, preferably AWS.
• Have experience supporting and mentoring other engineers as a force multiplier.
• Have worked closely with designers and product managers.
• Have experience with Golang. This is a plus but not required.
• Be self-driven, work well with others to remove roadblocks, and stay curious about new technologies.
• Have shown you can build, deploy and maintain large-scale, complex applications.
• Care more about solutions and customer experience than any particular tool or framework.
• Show good judgment: analyze problems and their implications, spot patterns, understand risks, build mitigation strategies, and own the outcome.
• Be resourceful, taking a can-do approach to obstacles and constraints and making the most of what you have.

Conditions

Base pay for this role in the New York City office is targeted at $188,000.00 to $242,000.00 per year.

Actual pay depends on factors such as skill set, relevant experience and work location. Ranges for other locations may differ based on local labor costs.

The role is hybrid and based in the New York City office.
