Description

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer in our New York office to join the Agent Builder team behind Alwin , our Agentic Automation Platform for audit and finance. Alwin agents run multi-step audit procedures over client evidence and return finished workpapers with every number traced back to source. Humans plan, review and sign off.

About the role

Agent Builder is where firms encode their methodology into agents. Methodology and quality teams describe how a procedure should execute; you build the product that turns that into a governed, versioned agent their whole firm can run consistently, every time. The problems are largely open: there is no playbook for letting auditors author production agents in a regulated domain, so you will help write it.

This is a hands-on role in a team that moves fast and holds a high bar. Your work goes in front of hundreds of thousands of audit and finance professionals at the world's largest firms.

Why DataSnipper?

The hardest AI problems aren't about getting an answer fast. They're about getting one people can trust.

We believe trust is essential to how society works. Every day, we rely on information that's been independently verified, from financial statements to the products we buy, to the sustainability claims companies make. Behind that trust are audit and finance professionals who examine evidence, verify information and hold organizations accountable.

At DataSnipper, we build AI solutions that empower those professionals. By making evidence easier to trace and verify, we help them focus on the judgment and expertise that make their work so important.

For our product and engineering team, this is where things get exciting. In audit, a plausible answer isn't good enough. Every output has to be explainable and traceable back to its source. We've just launched a brand new agentic platform, Alwin by DataSnipper. AI agents running in the cloud across hundreds of documents at once, reasoning across PDF, Word and Excel, with a full audit trail behind every step. There are lots of greenfield problems ahead, and real room to shape what we build and how we build it.

And we build at scale. More than 600,000 professionals across 3,000+ organizations in 175 countries rely on DataSnipper, including Fortune 500 companies, government agencies and all Big Four audit firms. In 2025 alone, the DataSnipper platform delivered more than $1.4 billion in productivity savings to is customers . Backed by a $100 million Series B led by Index Ventures, at a $1 billion valuation, and as proud members of 1% for the Planet, we care about how we grow, not just how fast.

If you want to build AI that professionals trust with work that really matters, this is your chance to help shape the future of audit and finance and do the best work of your career along the way.

Responsibilities

  • Agent Authoring
  • Build the authoring experience that encodes a firm's audit methodology into a configurable, multi-step agent
  • Design the agent definition model: steps, tools, inputs, thresholds, planning behaviour and human-in-the-loop gates
  • Choose the right abstraction for builders, so non-engineers get consistent agents without writing prompts from scratch
  • Work with the Agent Runtime team so authored agents compile cleanly onto the base agent, tools and orchestration layer
  • Governance & Quality
  • Own versioning, publishing and governance in the Agent Library: who may build, publish and run which agent
  • Give builders a way to test and evaluate an agent before publishing, working with the Agent Runtime and Evals teams
  • Instrument authored agents in production and use traces ( Grafana , OpenTelemetry , MLflow ) to find where definitions break down
  • Implement security, access-control and audit-trail requirements expected by regulated customers, aligned with OWASP GenAI
  • Collaboration & Impact
  • Own features end-to-end in our Python stack ( FastAPI , Pydantic , MongoDB ) on Azure , through to the React web app
  • Architect services with clear contracts that other Alwin teams can build on
  • Raise the engineering bar through code reviews, mentorship and well-documented technical decisions
  • Break down epics and manage ambiguity with product, design and audit methodology experts
  • What You Will Bring

Requirements

  • 6+ years in software engineering, with strong, production-grade Python
  • Hands-on experience building and operating agentic systems in production : control loops, tool calling, planning versus execution, retries and fallbacks, not only prompt-and-parse pipelines
  • Experience with LLM APIs and agent frameworks across more than one model provider
  • Solid experience building data-driven web APIs on a major cloud platform
  • Strong fundamentals in software architecture , system design and data modelling
  • A track record of owning product features end-to-end, including frontend work in React or a similar framework
  • Experience with testing strategies (unit, integration, E2E) and a quality-first mindset
  • Proficient with AI-assisted engineering (we use Claude Code)
  • Excellent communication; you can work directly with auditors and product partners to define what "correct" means
  • Nice-to-Have
  • Experience building low-code / configuration products , workflow designers, rule engines or DSLs
  • Experience with agent evaluation : datasets, offline and online experiments, failure classification
  • Experience with versioning, permissions and publishing in a multi-tenant platform
  • Durable workflow engines (e.g. Temporal ) or multi-agent orchestration in production
  • Document processing : OCR, classification, structured extraction
  • Domain experience in audit methodology, accounting or fintech

Benefits

  • Be part of one of the fastest-growing, profitable unicorn scale-ups with a global impact
  • Equity (Stock Appreciation Rights) to share the company's success and growth

  • Paid parental leave
  • Company-sponsored lunch

  • Access to continuous learning and development initiatives to grow your skills
  • Engage with a vibrant international team spread across five global offices
  • Access to the mental health and wellness platform
  • Multiple social activities for team building, including company-wide events like DataSnipper GO, where global teams come together

  • Final Interview (30 minutes, online)
