Description

The company builds a generative AI product for enterprise users that gives instant assistance. You will join the Conversation Engine team, which works at the core of this product.

The role focuses on scaling and optimizing the product so it can serve hundreds of millions of users across several chat channels and use cases, while raising engineering quality and robustness across the end-to-end infrastructure.

The team works closely with machine learning experts and cross-functional groups, iterates quickly on new ideas, and uses user behavior data to guide decisions. The company treats enterprise AI as an open field and expects engineers to propose their own solutions to unsolved problems.

Recent company posts on its enterprise AI products are worth reviewing before you apply.

Responsibilities

  • Build product infrastructure with user-friendly interfaces that let engineers and configurators customize and tune generative AI models with little effort. This covers collecting data and feedback, fitting diverse enterprise use cases and business contexts, and delivering domain-specific conversational experiences.
  • Design scalable API abstractions for the conversation platform, which serves popular chat clients such as MSTeams, Slack, and Web, and provide a neutral API that other parts of the engineering system can build on.
  • Optimize the dialog engine to support a broad set of conversational features. Use private domain knowledge specific to each enterprise customer in the cloud and add real-time multilingual translation. Keep memory use minimal, latency low, and the development process simple for application engineers.
  • Set the standards for coding patterns, API design, scalability, robustness, and optimization. Help other engineers keep improving their code and raise the overall quality bar.
  • Give clear visibility into how the conversational AI product performs. Implement logging and tracing, debugging and triage tools that are easy to use, and automated metrics for monitoring and analysis.
  • Work with ML engineers, application engineers, product teams, and customer support teams to deliver new features and scalability work.

Requirements

  • A strong background in computer science and software engineering, with experience building scalable systems.
  • A deep understanding of clean, modular, and scalable API design. You can promote good coding practices and persuade other engineers to hold to high code quality.
  • A drive to optimize systems and improve performance. You know tracing, logging, and metrics frameworks and can quickly find and fix latency bottlenecks, race conditions, and throughput limits.
  • You can research new requirements on your own and build creative solutions. You are comfortable with fast coding and execution and with iterating quickly to deliver results.
  • Strong communication skills. You can explain your reasoning and design choices and work well across teams.
  • A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional development experience, including building systems at scale.
