Senior Software Engineer (Fullstack)

Description

The company builds the systems behind a global logistics marketplace, covering the carrier experience, shipper enterprise portals, internal operations tools, and pricing, matching, and forecasting engines.

This is a full-time, hybrid role on the team that builds these systems end to end, from backend services and APIs to the React web interfaces that customers use.

You will work where user experience meets business logic, with product, design, and other engineering teams, shaping architecture and best practices across the stack and mentoring peers.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable fullstack services and interfaces in modern stacks such as Go, Java, and React.
• Set technical direction and architecture for systems that span frontend interfaces and distributed backend services.
• Push for good practice in testing, security, maintainability, and deployment pipelines.
• Work with Product, Design, and Data Science to set technical scope, weigh trade-offs, and ship complex logistics features.
• Spot technical debt, scaling limits, and architecture opportunities early, and steer the platform's long-term technical direction.
• Mentor engineers at all levels, run thorough design and code reviews, and build shared ownership across the team.
• Diagnose and fix complex issues that span frontend and backend in production.

Requirements

• A BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years across both backend and frontend systems.
• Strong coding skills in one or more backend languages (Go, Java, Python, or C++) and in frontend technologies (React, TypeScript, HTML/CSS).
• Experience building scalable microservices and frontend applications that integrate with APIs.
• Deep knowledge of web performance, API design, and data modeling.
• Experience testing across backend and frontend at the unit, integration, and end-to-end levels.
• Nice to have: working knowledge of data structures and algorithms, and the ability to apply them when building solutions.
• Nice to have: experience with MySQL, SQL Server, or Oracle.
• Nice to have: a proven record of leading technical projects and mentoring engineers.
• Nice to have: familiarity with frontend component libraries and design systems.
• Nice to have: strong product sense and attention to UX quality.
• Nice to have: knowledge of the logistics and transportation industry.

Full-time, hybrid role.

For roles based in Chicago, the salary range is $152,000.00 to $186,000.00 per year.
