Description

The company sells a customer engagement platform that brands use for cross-channel messaging, journey orchestration and AI-driven decisions, and it is growing quickly on a global scale.

The company wants its people to be friendly, kind and committed, to keep high standards, to support each other, to balance work and life, and to push for more equity and opportunity inside and outside the company.

You are expected to hold yourself and your colleagues to a high bar, act on your own judgment, take responsibility for outcomes and stay open to other views.

The team values curiosity and sharing outside interests, which keeps the culture lively.

If you enjoy hard problems and prefer to act when things change, you can make a real impact on a sharp team.

Responsibilities

  • Join the User Targeting team, which owns how customers split their users into segments and target them.
  • Every message the company sends passes through its pipelines, which handle billions of users each day. The team works close to customers on a central, high-impact part of the product.
  • Build and own features in a complex, high-scale segmentation system that supports the whole product. Work on new segmentation capabilities, improve performance and cost, and deepen your large-scale data skills.
  • Design and implement features across the Ruby on Rails backend and React frontend, from design review to production.
  • Take ownership of medium-sized projects: break the work down, set delivery dates and meet them.
  • Write and tune queries against MongoDB and ClickHouse, and learn how segmentation speed and cost shift as data grows.
  • Work with product managers, designers and other engineers to clarify requirements and ship what customers need.
  • Write thorough automated tests, review teammates' code, and join the on-call rotation to keep systems stable.
  • The team uses AI heavily. Agentic tools help you work through the Ruby monolith, build proofs of concept and move from request to working solution quickly and safely. AI supports every stage of delivery, raising quality and speed.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional experience building and shipping web applications, in full-stack development or back-end services.
  • A solid grasp of software design, data structures and algorithms.
  • Experience with SQL and at least one production database.
  • Able to turn an unclear feature request into tested, working code with limited oversight, starting by asking the right questions.
  • Strong communication and organization skills, and a record of doing well on team projects.
  • Bonus: familiarity with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, React, Sidekiq, and SQL or NoSQL databases.
  • Bonus: prior work with MongoDB, ClickHouse, Snowflake or other data lake tools.
  • Bonus: experience with a high-scale, high-throughput system.
  • Bonus: you care about the customer experience.
