Description

The company provides Buy Now, Pay Later payment methods and modern checkout tools for businesses, built on proprietary machine-learning risk models, fully digital processes and a highly scalable platform. It builds financial products as a deep-tech company.

You will join the Payments domain, which tracks money as it moves between merchants, buyers, investors and the company. The domain integrates with banks, generates payment instructions and processes bank statements. Teams have a high degree of autonomy in choosing how to meet customer needs.

This is a senior software engineering role on the Payments domain, with a significant share of hands-on coding.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, deploy, maintain and improve the software your team owns, from new features to evolving existing services.
  • Understand, change and debug complex business flows across existing Kotlin and PHP systems, join incident response and own follow-ups from root cause analyses.
  • Work with the Staff Engineer and the architecture group to break the target architecture into incremental, well-scoped plans and deliver them.
  • Write technical specifications covering the problem, options, trade-offs, chosen design, testing and rollout. Split them into detailed tickets the team can deliver and review specs written by others.
  • Use AI agentic coding tools daily to explore code, draft implementations, write tests and review changes, remaining fully accountable for what ships. Help the team use them well by sharing workflows, writing clear context for agents and contributing to the shared AI skills.
  • Review code, mentor less experienced engineers and unblock teammates.
  • Represent your team with stakeholders to drive decisions and help with interviewing.

Requirements

  • Proven experience taking Kotlin (preferred) or Java solutions built on Spring into production.
  • Experience building and running microservices in cloud environments with high availability and reliability targets.
  • Hands-on experience with AI agentic coding tools and spec-driven development on production work. You know when to trust their output and when to challenge it, and you write specs other engineers can build from.
  • You argue for and against architectural decisions with clear trade-off analysis, holding strong opinions loosely.
  • Genuine interest in business finance and how money moves between companies, banks and investors.
  • Experience with TDD, pair or mob programming and continuous delivery.
  • You communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences and enjoy building solutions with engineers, product managers and stakeholders.
  • You keep learning and follow the technology landscape, bringing ideas the team could use.
  • You have a good working understanding of domain-driven design, which the team uses to focus its work.
  • You own the security, reliability and scalability of what your team ships, following a "you build it, you run it" approach. The team works with OKRs tied to business goals.
  • Nice to have: experience with Apache Kafka, Flink, Beam, stream processing or reactive streams.
