Description

The Index Process Automation team is an in-house technical group within Benchmarks & Index Management, focused on centralizing automation, innovation and research to design, build and roll out process improvements and simplification.

As a senior developer you will help shape the technology for Benchmarks & Index Management. The work aims to raise quality, expand coverage, strengthen service and operational resilience, and increase automation, and it will support wider change across the global Benchmarks & Index Management Operations team.

You will be a Python developer with React front-end and Python back-end work, helping build and maintain a web application hosted on AWS. You will work with data modelers, analysts and business users across several product teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain web applications using React and Python.
• Write code that is clean, maintainable and efficient.
• Improve the speed and scalability of applications and code.
• Find and fix bugs and performance problems in applications.
• Review code from peers and help set team standards.
• Record data ownership and set up integrations with enterprise data repositories.
• Lead adherence to the company's data standard policies and procedures.
• Learn new technologies, tools and frameworks quickly when projects need them.
• Keep current with industry trends and good practice through ongoing learning.

Requirements

• 7+ years as a Python developer in an enterprise environment.
• Sound grasp of object-oriented principles and common data libraries such as pandas, NumPy, datetime and regex.
• 5+ years of front-end development with React, JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
• 5+ years of SQL Server experience, including basic queries and running stored procedures.
• Working knowledge of version control systems such as Git, including Bitbucket and GitLab.
• Experience writing thorough documentation in Confluence and logging bugs in Jira.
• Skilled with testing frameworks such as unit tests, pytest and Jest to keep code quality and maintainability high.
• Optional: hands-on experience with AWS, Azure or other cloud providers, and with Databricks, ADF, Glue, ETLs and ELTs.
• Able to work inclusively, communicate clearly and collaborate closely within a team.
• Clear verbal and written communication, including explaining technical matters to non-technical colleagues and responding well to their concerns.
• Enthusiastic about high-quality solutions.
