Senior Research Scientist, EDA and AI

The company is hiring a Senior Research Scientist to lead original research where AI, GPU computing and electronic design automation (EDA) meet. AI and GPU acceleration are changing how chips are designed, and this role helps determine that direction.

The team is looking for a creative, collaborative researcher who wants new challenges.

Responsibilities

• Set the research agenda across EDA algorithms, VLSI design methodology and advanced machine learning.
• Develop EDA software and algorithms using supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning, plus GPU-accelerated optimization.
• Work with circuit design, VLSI and architecture teams so that research results reach real products.
• Publish in leading conferences, present at major venues and contribute to the field's thinking.
• Build partnerships with outside researchers and internal product teams to extend the reach of your work.

Requirements

• A PhD in computer science, electrical or computer engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Plus 2+ years of research after the PhD, a strong publication record in top EDA and AI/ML venues, and a proven ability to set research direction and turn ideas into tools or products.
• Deep knowledge of EDA or VLSI, such as synthesis, formal verification, timing, reliability or physical design algorithms. Plus 5+ years applying AI techniques (supervised, unsupervised, RL) and GPU or accelerator computing to large-scale problems.
• 5+ years of software development, with strong skills in high-performance computing, parallel programming, optimization and large-scale software engineering.
• Experience leading research projects or teams, mentoring junior scientists, driving cross-functional work with circuits, VLSI or architecture groups, and building ties with academia or industry.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with experience presenting at top conferences. A record of releasing high-impact open-source tools, datasets or frameworks is a plus, and you must be able to influence both technical and non-technical audiences.

Base salary depends on location, experience and the pay of people in similar roles. The base range is 192,000 USD to 304,750 USD for Level 4, and 224,000 USD to 356,500 USD for Level 5.
