Senior Regulatory Data Developer

You will modernise complex reporting pipelines and build scalable cloud architectures that handle high volumes of data with exact accuracy.

The Data Engineering department runs high-volume data platforms that support round-the-clock operations worldwide. Inside it, the Regulatory Data team builds and runs batch and near real-time pipelines that convert intricate operational data into precise reports.

This is a hands-on engineering role. You will lead the move of legacy SQL Server systems onto Google Cloud Platform, design scalable BigQuery and Dataform pipelines, mentor other engineers, and bring AI-assisted development tools into the team to raise quality across the reporting estate.

Responsibilities

• Lead regulatory data projects and larger workstreams from planning through to live operation.
• Design, build and maintain dependable reporting systems across SQL Server and Google Cloud Platform.
• Build resilient ETL and ELT pipelines covering ingestion, transformation and validation.
• Move legacy SQL Server reporting into scalable, cloud-native GCP architectures.
• Put in place data-quality checks, reconciliation controls, monitoring and operational safeguards.
• Apply engineering standards such as version control, automated testing, CI/CD and documentation.
• Review the regulatory data estate to cut technical debt, remove duplication and simplify architectures.
• Mentor and support engineers through technical guidance, code reviews and constructive feedback.
• Work with Team Leads, Technical Leads and Product stakeholders to keep delivery plans aligned.
• Use AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering quality, efficiency and consistency.

Requirements

• Strong experience with Google BigQuery and Dataform, including data modelling and query optimisation.
• Advanced SQL skills, including complex queries, stored procedures and performance tuning.
• A proven record of designing, building and supporting ETL or ELT pipelines.
• Practical knowledge of GCP services such as Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Pub/Sub and Cloud Composer.
• Experience modernising or supporting SQL Server reporting solutions.
• Working familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code or similar assistants.
• Orchestration expertise for scheduled and dependency-driven data workloads.
• Solid grounding in software engineering practice, including CI/CD, testing, code review and observability.
• A track record of leading technical designs, data models and delivery planning for major workstreams.
• A firm, proactive approach to assessing existing systems and driving lasting improvements.
