Description

The company is an AI-native robotics manufacturer. It builds assembly and production capacity for robotics firms and for hardware critical to national security, so in practice it builds robots that build robots.

Its goal is to revive US manufacturing as an AI-first, assembly-focused, dual-use contract manufacturer, with a team embedded in the American industrial base.

The team combines manufacturing operators, mechanical engineers, robotics researchers, and software engineers, all working on production systems together.

The company is moving from building robots to selling them. Early team members will have a direct effect on the product, the culture, and the outcome.

This is a poor fit if you want a mature, well-defined commercial organization.

The role builds the commercial engine that brings AI-driven manufacturing to industrial and energy customers across America.

The team practices ethical hiring.

Responsibilities

  • Grow the sales organization and the business functions, including finance, legal, marketing, and operations, so the company stays solvent, compliant, and able to deliver what sales commits to.
  • Hold this as one combined role for now. When both sides grow, it will be split, and the person in the seat chooses which half to take.
  • Hire account executives, sales engineers, and marketing staff.
  • Hire across finance, legal, IT, supply chain, facilities, and program management.
  • Learn how the business makes money, what a deal involves, who buys and what they buy, unit economics, and where working capital goes.
  • Define each role before the requisition opens: its purpose, what success looks like at 12 months, and what you will trade away. Source against the role, not a job title.
  • Build the company pitch for commercial candidates and answer their hardest questions.
  • Analyze talent competitors in robotics, autonomous vehicles, defense primes, and industrial automation, plus the software companies that set candidate pay expectations.
  • Own offers and closing, including cash versus equity discussions.
  • Break commercial roles down into competency maps.

Requirements

  • Build like an owner: move quickly, take responsibility, and find a route when the path is unclear. You bring drive and sound judgment on risk. If you need a set lane, a steady pace, and full answers upfront, this may not suit you.
  • 5+ years of recruiting, with GTM or G&A experience. Both is ideal, but depth in one area is enough.
  • Commercially minded: you can read a pipeline, understand sales models, and discuss finance needs credibly with finance candidates.
  • A strong closer who has won candidates holding better offers.
  • Real curiosity about customers, deals, and margins, including questions others rarely ask.
  • Experience hiring first-of-kind roles, such as a first account executive, a first controller, or a first supply marketing lead, with no existing team to copy.
  • Use AI tools to scale sourcing, research, and market mapping.
  • You would walk away at the offer stage rather than hire someone on a story that is not true.
  • Experience with complex hardware or capital equipment.
  • Hiring for defense, dual-use, or government-adjacent commercial roles, including capture and business development.
  • Having built a talent function at an early-stage company.
  • Experience using Ashby.
  • Comfort with changing requirements: roles may be redefined mid-search as strategy and organization take shape, and you can stay flexible.
