Description

The company is a global technology business with more than 83,000 employees on five continents, including over 7,500 in the UK. It works across defence, space, aerospace and digital security.

The role is Senior Project Manager in the Under Water Systems (UWS) business, based in Cheadle with hybrid working: 3 days per week onsite, based on full-time hours.

You will lead complex software and cyber development projects in the M-SET portfolio, focusing on the evolution and delivery of RTE capability and related software products.

The work follows an Agile approach. You will deliver projects against agreed scope, schedule, cost, quality and customer requirements, working with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, Product Owners, Solution Architects and Software Delivery Teams to match programme objectives and product strategy.

The role calls for strong leadership, stakeholder management, governance, planning and risk management, plus a solid grasp of Agile software development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex software and cyber projects from start to finish
  • Build and keep up delivery plans that match programme objectives and commitments
  • Control scope, schedule, cost, quality and overall project performance
  • Run delivery across multidisciplinary teams using Agile methods
  • Handle dependencies, risks, issues and opportunities
  • Provide clear governance, reporting and stakeholder engagement
  • Work with Product Managers and Product Owners to build, maintain and carry out product roadmaps, keeping capability evolution, programme priorities and delivery plans aligned

Requirements

  • Significant project leadership experience in a software delivery environment
  • Proven record of delivering complex software development projects
  • Strong knowledge of Agile methods, including Scrum and sprint-based delivery
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in a matrix organisation
  • Demonstrable ability to manage project cost, schedule, risk and performance
  • Experience building and maintaining integrated project plans
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience in customer-facing delivery
  • The UWS business provides underwater sensors and decision superiority to navies worldwide. Its four sectors are Mine Counter Measures, Anti-Submarine Warfare, Services and Future Capabilities.
  • Security clearance: many roles at the company are subject to security restrictions. You must be a UK national and obtain Security Clearance (SC) without any caveats. Holding SC already is an advantage. If you do not hold it, you must obtain and maintain SC before starting work.
  • To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have lived in the UK for the last 5 years. In some cases, 3 years' UK residence over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks. Guidance is available on the UKSV website.
