Senior Project Manager - Data Centre Construction

Description

The company's Industrial, Sciences and Technology team in Leeds is hiring Senior Project Managers to grow its data centre team, as its portfolio expands.

You will support large, ground-up data centre builds for leading technology clients across the UK, owning delivery from the first concept through to commissioning.

The company works on ambitious, highly technical projects for major global clients from more than 110 offices worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Advise on strategy at project conception, including the different routes available to meet the client's goals.
• Set the overall success criteria for each project, covering time, cost, technical and performance targets.
• Plan and manage quality, safety, health and environmental matters throughout the project.
• Set up the project governance, processes and systems the team will use from start to finish.
• Produce the detailed project plan and advise on sourcing resources.
• Lead and facilitate a cross-functional project team.
• Track performance using KPIs and apply management techniques to improve it.
• Run the change control process and advise on project finances.
• Keep information flowing between the team and the client through regular meetings and written updates.
• Produce formal progress reports and other documents.
• Take a lead role in working with the client and other consultants at every stage.
• Internally, manage staff where relevant, record key learnings from each project in the company's internal database, invoice clients promptly, track project financial status in FMS, and look for ways to improve internal systems and processes.

Requirements

• Hands-on knowledge of data centre design and development, management, construction and tenant liaison or coordination.
• Construction engineering knowledge.
• Experience in construction consultancy is strongly preferred.
• At least 5-10 years of project management experience, ideally within digital or data centre environments.
• Professional qualification in construction, project management, engineering or architecture.
• A solid grasp of the whole project life cycle, from conception through operations to completion and post-project review.
• Strong command of the main project management concepts, tools and techniques.
• Design, management or construction experience in general construction, ideally in residential, office, fit-out, health or education projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
