Description

The company is hiring a senior project engineer for its Florida team to lead complex infrastructure projects across the region.

The company is a global infrastructure consulting firm working in water, environment, energy, transportation and buildings, with over 50,000 staff and fiscal 2025 revenue of $16.1 billion.

The role centers on ports, marine, waterfront and coastal work, and you will apply independent engineering judgment to decide whether the work meets contract terms and to resolve technical issues among clients, design-builders and construction managers. A strong heavy civil background is required; port experience is preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Review construction submittals, drawings, product data and proposed substitutions against owner requirements and contract documents.
  • Review requests for information and proposed answers, pulling in input from the relevant disciplines.
  • Assess change orders and field modifications for technical justification, scope, supporting documents, and effects on cost and schedule.
  • Check design revisions made during construction for function, durability, upkeep and fit with existing operations.
  • Work with design-build teams, clients, contractors and construction managers to settle design conflicts and field problems.
  • Record review findings, track comment closure, and recommend acceptance or approval within delegated authority and contract procedure.
  • Attend construction coordination meetings and site visits when needed.
  • Lead planning through to handover of complex ports, marine, waterfront and coastal projects.
  • Run a portfolio of projects and key client accounts, covering delivery, revenue, margins, schedules, quality and client satisfaction.
  • Guide multidisciplinary teams and project managers on programs with complex scopes, Risk Triggering Factors (RTF), and high uncertainty.
  • Build strategies that anticipate and control risk and limit claims, scope changes and financial exposure.
  • Develop lasting client relationships, win repeat work and spot new growth opportunities.
  • Oversee project finances, including revenue forecasts, cost control, margins, billing and overall results.
  • Coordinate clients, contractors, regulators and technical teams to deliver projects safely and efficiently under company standards and client requirements.
  • Lead business development, proposals, client outreach and growth initiatives in Florida's ports and marine sector.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management or a closely related field, plus 8 years of related experience, or an equivalent mix of experience and education.
  • 8 years of progressive project management experience, ideally on ports, marine, coastal, waterfront or heavy civil infrastructure.
  • An active Florida PE license, or the ability to obtain one within the timeframe the assignment requires.
  • A valid US driver's license to visit sites, clients and company offices.
  • Preferred: experience managing ports, marine, waterfront, coastal or maritime infrastructure projects.
  • Preferred: experience working with FDOT, Florida port authorities, municipalities or other public transportation and infrastructure agencies.
  • Preferred: established relationships with Florida ports, FDOT, contractors, consultants and other key industry stakeholders.
  • Preferred: proven track record in business development, client management and winning repeat work in the ports and marine market.
