Description

The company is a newsroom whose journalists report from nearly 160 countries, and it delivers that reporting through print, audio and a digital app.

The company's strategy depends on readers paying for journalism that is good enough to be worth it. The team is hiring a Senior Product Marketing Manager for the sports product, reporting to its Director of Product Marketing.

The role blends product partnership with go-to-market leadership for the sports product's priority features, products and experiences. You will work from concept through launch and measurement, helping the team win acquisition, engagement and retention. You will also get hands-on, building prototypes to show your ideas.

Responsibilities

  • Represent customer and market views in product planning, prioritization and roadmap decisions, working directly with product teams.
  • Use research and data to pinpoint customer needs, rank use cases and find market opportunities for sports products and experiences.
  • Lead go-to-market strategy for major launches from start to finish, covering positioning, messaging, audiences, creative briefs, channel plans and enablement materials.
  • Turn complex product capabilities into clear customer benefits and value propositions that sports fans will understand.
  • Work with Growth Marketing and Product to find opportunities at every stage of the user journey, from acquisition through retention.
  • Set success metrics, review performance after launch and build feedback loops that shape future product and marketing decisions.
  • Create clear narratives, frameworks and presentations that keep partners aligned on customer needs, strategy and project impact.
  • Bring structure to complex programs, lead productive discussions and share practices that raise product marketing standards across the organization.
  • Support the company's commitment to journalistic independence and its mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of product marketing experience, with a working understanding of product-led growth and how it affects acquisition, activation, engagement and retention.
  • Expertise in go-to-market strategy, lifecycle marketing across owned and paid channels, and planning, testing and shipping features for B2C subscription apps.
  • Experience using customer research, audience insights, competitive intelligence and analytics to shape positioning, value propositions and messaging.
  • Experience working with Product, Data, Tech and Research teams to influence roadmaps, run test-and-learn programs and measure results.
  • Clear, engaging communication that adapts complex information for different audiences.
  • Interest in sports and an understanding of how fans find, follow and engage with sports coverage.
  • Comfort working both independently and with others, and curiosity about spotting and pursuing new opportunities.

Conditions

The role is hybrid.

The annual base pay range is $168,000 to $178,000 USD.

Equal opportunity: the company does not discriminate based on sex, age, race, citizenship, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status or other legally protected characteristics.

Benefits

  • For US roles, you may be eligible for variable pay such as an annual bonus and restricted stock, depending on the role.
  • Benefits may include medical, dental and vision coverage, Flexible Spending Accounts, a company-matching 401(k), an employee stock purchase plan, paid vacation, paid sick days, paid parental leave, tuition reimbursement and professional development programs.
