Description

The company secures operational technology and IoT infrastructure for enterprises and government bodies in energy, manufacturing, transportation, resources and critical infrastructure, with its AI-based platform active in more than 68 countries.

The team is building a new platform to act as the system of record for industrial operations, covering every asset, change, approval and its full history in one OT-native CMDB and service management product.

Customers have asked for this because plant teams are struggling to fit industrial environments into IT ticketing and CMDB tools built for other purposes. The company already sees plant-floor assets in real time through its sensors and now aims to keep the record and govern changes.

The platform is in design and early access with enterprise and mid-market customers, and the data model is still open. You will define the problem and design the solution with engineering.

Because the CMDB draws on live first-party asset data from the company's sensors, it can check whether the record matches what is on the network. AI agents are part of the core: they watch for changes, open work and answer questions about asset history.

The team has deep OT knowledge already and now needs someone who has built a CMDB before.

The role is a Senior or Staff Product Manager based in the company's product team, reporting to the VP of Product and working daily with an engineering team in Europe.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of an OT-native CMDB data model with engineering, covering assets, installed positions, locations, ISA-95 hierarchies (site, area, line, cell), relationships and each asset's full change history from installation to retirement.
  • Define how recorded asset state relates to live network data and the rules for handling disagreements.
  • Decide how observed assets and assets the network never sees, such as offline equipment and spreadsheet imports, coexist, keeping clear which values were observed and which were only declared.
  • Set the identity and reconciliation rules with engineering: when sensor, integration and spreadsheet records describe the same physical asset, decide which source wins per field and how each value stays traceable. Engineering builds the matching; you define its required accuracy.
  • Shape the default workflows on a configurable workflow engine, including planned and unplanned change, vulnerability remediation, asset changes and safety approvals, and define what proves a change was completed.
  • Define how the platform works with systems customers already use, such as an existing CMDB or ITSM tool, deciding which system owns each record and how work moves between them.
  • Decide where an AI agent can act and where a person must approve.
  • Make the product decisions, negotiate scope with engineering, set what a release must include and move debates to decisions quickly.
  • Work directly with early-access customers to validate ideas, learn quickly and ship.
  • Model the company's cultural pillars of transparency, trust and accountability in your work.

Requirements

  • Product ownership of a CMDB, asset or configuration data product sold to many customers, including its structural choices: what a record is, how sources are reconciled, how records are attested and what history is kept. Having only configured or implemented a CMDB does not count.
  • Firsthand understanding of which CMDB parts cannot be added later, and the ability to explain why to engineers in two sentences.
  • 5+ years of B2B product management at a software vendor. Running your own company's internal CMDB does not count.
  • Strong data modeling skills: you can sketch a schema, explain its tradeoffs and name mistakes you have made so the team avoids them.
  • Experience defining identity or reconciliation rules, matching messy records across many sources with no single reliable key, and modeling how a record changes over time.
  • Experience shipping workflow, approval or change management features, ideally configurable defaults that customers adapt.
  • Sound judgment on AI in workflows, including when an agent should do the work and when a person must approve.
  • Comfort working with enterprise customers and technical stakeholders in operations, security and IT.
  • Ability to travel to Europe one week per quarter.
  • Preferred: product ownership of platforms such as ServiceNow CMDB, CSDM, ITOM Visibility, Change Management or Operational Technology Management; BMC Helix CMDB; Freshservice or Device42; Cognite; IBM Maximo; or SAP EAM.
  • Preferred: experience with matching and master data platforms such as Tamr, Reltio, Informatica MDM or Axonius.
  • Preferred: background in configuration management, IT and cyber asset management, master data management, entity resolution, industrial knowledge graphs or EAM/CMMS products.
  • Preferred: OT experience, though it is not required. The CMDB and platform experience is the harder skill to find, and much of the team came from the plant floor and can help you learn the domain.
