Description

You'll be the product manager for the Data & Foundations area, based remotely in the Eastern or Central time zone. Some travel is required.

The company is a venture-backed startup, recently raised a Series B, and is entering its next phase of growth. It offers institutionally funded gap loan programs, which help working-class and first-generation students stay enrolled and finish their degrees when loans fall short. It works with colleges to design, launch and run these programs.

It runs two business lines. One helps healthcare employers hire and keep staff by using student loan repayment as a recruiting and retention tool. The other gives colleges and universities lending technology to run their own private student loan programs, a need that has grown as federal financial aid rules change.

You'll lead two pods: the existing Data team and the new Foundations & Integrations team. Your stakeholders include internal teams, customers and end users. You'll keep both engineering teams on track, set the roadmap with the Director of Product, and work with three other PMs across both business lines. The role is open at PM or Senior PM level, depending on the candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Plan the roadmap and sprints for the Data and Foundations & Integrations pods alongside the two engineering leads.
  • Keep both teams focused, unblocked and shipping. Split large efforts into clear milestones and report progress and risk candidly.
  • Make the trade-offs in priorities openly, since demand always exceeds capacity.
  • Own how partner data stays in sync with ours, from SFTP file ingestion to full API integrations.
  • Make onboarding a new partner faster and repeatable, so it depends less on heroic engineering work.
  • Design for failure with validation, monitoring and clear recovery steps, so partners don't find problems first.
  • Lead enterprise readiness work such as SCIM provisioning that eases onboarding for larger partners.
  • Own how the company contacts end users by email, in product and through newer channels such as AI chat.
  • Give teams clear visibility into what is sent, to whom and why.
  • Own the internal tools that support partners and users, including staff tools, user impersonation and internal workflows.
  • Push for better UAT environments and engineering foundations so every product team can ship faster and more safely.
  • Work with the data team to combine data from across the business into one source of truth.
  • Set the direction for customer-facing and internal reporting, and make sure both are trusted and used.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience. The work counts for more than the credential.
  • 5+ years in product management, ideally with data, integrations, communications, internal tools or B2B SaaS products. A background in data, solutions engineering or engineering before product is a plus.
  • Solid technical depth: you know SQL, can read a data model, and understand APIs, webhooks, file-based integrations, and authentication and provisioning well enough to join system design discussions.
  • Hands-on experience owning or shipping customer or partner integrations such as SFTP, APIs or SSO/SCIM, and a clear sense of what makes them scale or fail.
  • Experience running roadmaps and sprint planning for engineering teams, ideally across more than one team at once.
  • Real partnership with data teams. You understand the modern data stack, including warehouses, pipelines and BI tools, well enough to help with migrations, data quality and reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with LLMs, MCP or agents, and a grounded view of where they help in user communications and internal operations and where they don't.
  • Strong written and verbal communication. You can explain a migration plan to an executive and its impact on partners to an engineer.
  • Fintech, lending, HR tech or healthcare experience.
  • Experience in a regulated industry where consumer data, consent and access controls have real rules.
  • Notification or messaging experience across email, in-app, SMS or conversational AI.
  • Experience building or replacing an internal tools stack at a growing company.

Conditions

The base salary range is $125,000 to $160,000 per year. Pay within that range depends on experience, qualifications and industry knowledge.

Compensation also includes cash and an equity component that gives eligible employees a share in the company's success and growth.

The role is not eligible for immigration sponsorship now or in the future. You must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer.

The company uses AI-assisted tools in parts of hiring, such as note-taking and summarizing interviews, scheduling and supporting evaluation in technical assessments. People review every application and make every hiring decision, and AI does not make final decisions about candidates.

You may use AI to research the company and prepare. During live interviews and assessments, though, the company wants your own thinking, so do not use tools that generate or suggest answers in real time.

If you prefer an evaluation without AI tools, need an accommodation or have questions about these tools, contact the recruiting team and they will arrange another process.
