Description

Construction and engineering projects depend on how well organizations handle commercial commitments, contracts, procurement, changes, costs and risk.

The company is seeking a senior product manager to set the direction and evolve its software for commercial and contract management across customer contracts, procurement, supplier commitments, subcontracts, change orders and commercial controls.

This is a senior, hands-on product leadership role for someone who knows how commercial and contract work really runs on construction and engineering projects and has turned that knowledge into enterprise software that works.

You will own the product area from problem to outcome: setting vision and strategy, finding the customer problems that matter most, building evidence-based investment cases, and leading discovery and product definition with customers, engineers, designers, sales staff and industry specialists.

The early priority is strengthening subcontract management, while building a wider commercial framework that links customer contracts, procurement, supplier commitments, contract changes and project financial results into one experience.

You will work with construction and engineering organizations in Europe and North America, including commercial managers, contract managers, quantity surveyors, project directors, procurement leaders, project controls teams and finance stakeholders.

The company is a billion-dollar revenue business with more than 7,000 employees, serving over 10,000 customers. Its AI technology underpins its enterprise software.

Responsibilities

  • Set and communicate the vision and strategy for commercial and contract management within the construction and engineering business.
  • Build a distinct market position across contract management, procurement, subcontract management and commercial controls.
  • Turn customer feedback, market shifts, industry insight and competitor information into targeted product investment.
  • Own a roadmap that weighs innovation, architecture modernization, adoption, retention and commercial growth.
  • Align with neighbouring areas such as project management, project controls, procurement, finance, project accounting, risk management and document management.
  • Talk directly with construction and engineering customers about their commercial processes, procurement workflows, contract risk and operating models.
  • Build trust with customers, partners and industry experts.
  • Test customer problems and product ideas before committing investment.
  • Recruit lighthouse customers and design partners to support discovery, prototyping, validation and early adoption.
  • Keep strategy tied to measurable customer results and business value.
  • Write product specifications covering the problem, business outcomes, user workflows, acceptance criteria and success measures.
  • Lead functional prototyping and test solutions with real users before development starts.
  • Work closely with engineering and design as a product triad.
  • Make sure the solutions form one end-to-end commercial experience rather than separate features.
  • Think in systems across contracts, procurement, project execution, change management, cost control, revenue management and commercial risk.
  • Build investment cases with clear customer, strategic and financial outcomes.
  • Work with engineering and design to take a validated problem to an adopted product quickly.
  • Support go-to-market work, including positioning, enablement, launch planning and customer engagement.
  • Represent the product area to customers, prospects, partners, analysts and internal teams.
  • Lead adoption from early customers to repeatable scale in the market.
  • Track success through customer results, adoption, retention, revenue influence and commercial impact.
  • Find AI opportunities across procurement, supplier management, contract administration, obligation management, commercial risk and change management.
  • Use AI to speed up discovery, research, prototyping and product definition.
  • Make sure AI features deliver real business results and decision support that users can trust.
  • Build reusable capabilities that serve construction and engineering business models worldwide.
  • You are focused on customers and on solving real problems in the industry.
  • You think commercially and measure work by business results.
  • You prioritize impact over the number of features.
  • You have enough industry credibility to talk with experienced construction and commercial professionals.
  • You are decisive and practical, and you can make hard prioritization calls.
  • You work well across product, engineering, design, sales, consulting and customer success.
  • You are technically fluent and can discuss architecture, APIs, data models, integrations and AI.
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and can give direction when situations are changing.
  • You are hands-on and willing to take part in discovery, prototyping, specification and customer work yourself.
  • You help raise product management practice across the team and mentor others.

Requirements

  • You have significant product management experience at a software company building SaaS, ERP, construction management, project management, procurement or other enterprise software.
  • You have directly owned commercial management, contract management, procurement, subcontract management, project controls or similar capabilities in an enterprise software portfolio.
  • You have strong experience in construction, engineering, EPC, infrastructure, contracting, specialist subcontracting or other project-based industries.
  • You understand commercial processes well, including customer and sales contracts, procurement and supplier commitments, subcontracts, change orders and variations, commercial obligations and compliance, valuation, payment, retention and claims, and the cost, revenue, margin and cash flow effects.
  • You have owned product strategy, roadmap, discovery, delivery, launch and adoption.
  • You have worked face to face with both operational users and senior executives.
  • You communicate and manage stakeholders well, and you set priorities clearly.
  • You have worked with global engineering and design teams.
  • You communicate fluently in English.
  • You are based in Europe or North America and can travel as needed.
  • Desirable: experience in construction commercial management, quantity surveying, procurement management, contract administration or project controls.
  • Desirable: familiarity with the main construction contracting models and commercial delivery frameworks used in Europe or North America.
  • Desirable: experience with construction ERP, project controls, procurement, contract management or capital project software.
  • Desirable: understanding of project accounting, forecasting, cost control, earned value, applications for payment, supplier payments and revenue management.
  • Desirable: experience modernizing enterprise software and introducing AI-enabled features.
  • Desirable: exposure to pricing, monetization, business case development or product P&L ownership.
  • Desirable: experience running a design-partner or lighthouse customer program.
  • Desirable: a degree or equivalent experience in construction management, engineering, quantity surveying, business, computer science or a related field.
