Description

The company makes an AI-first enterprise legal management platform for corporate legal teams and outside counsel.

The AI is patented and was built on over 100,000 hours of legal and engineering work.

Customer Success teams support customers, and leading global organizations rely on the platform.

The company is part of the Legal & Regulatory division of a global provider of professional information and software.

The company is scaling quickly, and the design team is small, highly skilled, and focused on craft, collaboration, and doing work properly.

You would sit in a product trio with an experienced product manager and an engineering partner, with real say over long-term direction and work that stays visible.

Design work is reused and referenced across the company rather than left in a backlog.

The design practice is changing, and AI tool use is led by peers with discipline rather than set from above, so you would help decide how the team uses it.

You would get real impact, room to grow, and autonomy on hard technical and business problems in a friendly, values-driven, inclusive team.

Interviews must be done without AI tools or outside prompts, and virtual backgrounds must be removed. In-person interviews are part of the process. Using AI-generated answers or third-party help during an interview leads to disqualification.

Responsibilities

  • Explain design direction, trade-offs, and decisions clearly to cross-functional partners and leadership.
  • Turn unclear problems into clear direction by stating a testable hypothesis for how solving a customer problem supports product strategy, then align your trio and stakeholders with sketches, flows, prototypes, and systems thinking.
  • Break complex work into sequences across several quarters, tackling the riskiest assumptions first so delivery is reliable.
  • Lead or join human-centred discovery: frame problems, validate opportunities, and confirm the team solves real customer needs. Run discovery alongside delivery without slowing shipping, and choose research depth from a quick check to a formal study.
  • Combine product analytics and customer insight to guide design, spot friction or opportunity, and turn findings into direction.
  • Shape solutions with your product trio continuously.
  • Hold a long-term view of the user experience while making pragmatic short-term calls to ship and learn.
  • Work with Customer Success and Support to see actual day-to-day use, and feed what you learn back into the product.
  • Raise design standards across critique, craft, research, design systems, and how squads work together.
  • Create work that other designers point to as a reference and reuse across product pillars.
  • Add reusable patterns and components to the Brightflag Design System so your solutions help other designers.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of product design experience in product-led SaaS.
  • You have owned meaningful product areas end-to-end, shaping the problem and seeing the work through to impact, not only delivering screens.
  • You are strong in human-centred design and discovery: you frame problems well, explore options, talk to customers, and validate direction before building.
  • You have worked closely with product management and engineering in a tight trio, collaborating early and often rather than handing work off.
  • You have designed complex, workflow-heavy B2B products, ideally multi-sided platforms where user types such as internal teams and external partners or vendors share data under different permissions and needs.
  • You can explain your thinking, discuss trade-offs, and influence decisions.
  • You use AI tools to improve design and research, and you bring new ways of working that help the team learn.
  • You work well in ambiguity, making principled trade-offs across user value, technical constraints, and business priorities.
  • You have worked in iterative Agile teams, designing in small steps and learning continuously.
  • You use both qualitative research and quantitative product data to decide, prioritise, and measure the impact of shipped work.
  • You design accessible, inclusive experiences to WCAG 2.1 AA or equivalent as a baseline.
  • You have worked with product analytics tools such as Amplitude, Mixpanel, GA, or similar.
  • Bonus: experience working on AI-driven or data-rich products.
  • Bonus: experience in legal tech, GRC, or another compliance-adjacent B2B SaaS category.
