Description

The company is building a new product team to design and deliver enterprise platforms and applications used by up to 200,000+ users across critical workflows.

You will work with product managers, engineers and users to understand hard problems and turn them into clear, usable product experiences, while helping shift how the organisation thinks about design.

You will lead design work from framing the user problem through design and build, and on to measuring how released products perform and where they can improve.

You need to show a thorough approach to complex design problems, iterating toward solutions that work. You will set out design needs and trade-offs and turn them into prioritised requirements for engineering. You will own the overall product experience and raise design standards and frameworks within engineering workflows, while following the bank's design guidelines and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Build wireframes, prototypes and mock-ups in Figma and other design tools that put the user first.
  • Frame complex user problems by linking user needs, business goals and technical limits to product opportunities and design choices.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative evidence, such as product analysis, usage data, user research and support feedback, to shape design concepts and direction.
  • Present design concepts with confidence to stakeholders at every level.
  • Run design thinking workshops and write documentation with stakeholders, turning complex business requirements into simple, well-made solutions.
  • Carry out user research, usability testing and feedback sessions to check that designs meet user needs.
  • Keep watch on support and feedback channels to spot repeated friction, unmet needs and new opportunities.
  • Set usability measures for key workflows and assess released features against the intended user and business results.
  • Work directly with users to learn what they need and deliver a smooth, intuitive experience.
  • Use AI-assisted tools and agents in research, design, prototyping and implementation where they speed up or improve delivery.
  • Write user-focused tickets that are clear and purposeful.
  • Own design quality and decisions for the product, making sure usability meets enterprise standards and agreed outcomes.

Requirements

  • Solve problems effectively and find practical answers.
  • Communicate and collaborate well.
  • Notice small details.
  • Take a practical approach to risk and bring creative ideas to managing it.
  • Champion inclusion and diversity in all forms.
  • Keep a growth mindset, willing to learn and adapt in a fast-moving setting.
  • Use evidence to test assumptions and guide decisions.
  • Show enthusiasm and build trust through empathy.
  • Care about building products around real user needs.
  • Stay curious about new technology and work across the boundary between design and engineering.
  • Work well independently, in teams and remotely.
  • Have proven experience as a Product Designer, driving business results through creative design with development teams and stakeholders.
  • Show a strong habit of spotting and improving weak areas without being asked.
  • Understand service design well, seeing the wider user experience and how systems and user journeys connect.
  • Have solid experience taking complex or unclear problems from discovery and definition through design, build and iteration.
  • Know Figma well, including clickable prototypes, components, variables and other advanced features.
  • Have experience running user research, usability testing and workshops and turning findings into product decisions.
  • Have a strong grasp of CSS and semantic HTML. JavaScript is a bonus.
  • Have experience with AI-assisted design, prototyping or development tools, or show you can quickly adapt to new technology.
  • Have proven stakeholder management skills and can explain complex product and design ideas to audiences from engineers to senior leaders.
