Description

Company Overview

At the company, we believe that everything starts with our people. We’re a global close-knit community, united by the relentless pursuit to help keep people safer everywhere. We build and connect technologies to help protect people, property and places. Our solutions foster the collaboration that’s critical for safer communities, safer schools, safer hospitals, safer businesses, and ultimately, safer nations. Connect with a career that matters, and help us build a safer future.

Department Overview

The company' Video Intelligence team is hiring a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to lead GCP Infrastructure/DevOps and Evidence Domain engineering. You'll direct senior engineers and tech leads owning cloud platform reliability, high-volume video/media processing, AI-driven evidence workflows, and secure data egress — plus influence indirect connector teams building third-party video ingestion gateways (Genetec, Milestone XProtect, Avigilon, Verkada, and others).

We are seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to lead and scale our Platform & Video Infrastructure organization. In this role, you will lead a distributed team of Senior Engineers, Tech Leads, and Engineering Managers building high-throughput GCP infrastructure, AI-powered evidence pipelines, and core video ingestion systems. As a senior leader, you will bridge long-term technical strategy with operational execution—driving platform reliability, scaling keyless security architectures, and forging alignment across complex partner connector ecosystems.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Organizational Scale
  • Org Development: Lead, mentor, and scale a distributed engineering organization (Senior Engineers, Tech Leads, and Engineering Managers); establish career pathways, succession planning, and performance management standards for senior talent.
  • Culture & Operations: Foster a high-accountability remote-first culture centered on engineering autonomy, operational rigor, and continuous feedback.
  • Resource & Budget Management: Own departmental headcount planning, operational budgets, and resource allocation across platform and integration initiatives.
  • Platform Architecture & GCP Infrastructure
  • Infrastructure Excellence: Drive strategic decisions for platform scalability, availability, and cost efficiency across our GCP footprint (GKE, Shared VPC, Managed Kafka, Anthos Service Mesh, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Vertex AI).
  • Security & Infrastructure as Code: Establish organizational standards for keyless authentication (Workload Identity Federation for GitHub Actions), zero-trust networking (mTLS, VPC Service Controls), and immutable infrastructure via Terraform across all environments.
  • Technical Delivery & Domain Execution
  • Roadmap & Execution: Define 0–2 year technical roadmaps and delivery benchmarks for platform reliability, evidence verification systems, and video ingestion performance.
  • Complex Media & AI Engineering: Oversee the architectural strategy for asynchronous, platform-scale media processing (transcoding, SHA-256 chain-of-custody integrity checks) and AI-driven false-positive filtering pipelines.
  • Cross-Functional Alignment & Stakeholder Management
  • Connector Ecosystem Partnership: Drive cross-organizational alignment with vendor and gateway connector teams (Genetec, Milestone, Avigilon, Verkada, Digital Watchdog, Envysion, ExacqVision, and others) to standardize API handshakes, streaming protocols, and ingestion performance.
  • Executive Stakeholder Advisory: Partner closely with Product, Security, and Executive Leadership to shape enterprise-wide architectural standards, integration policies, and platform capabilities.

Requirements

  • Leadership & Experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Track Record: 10+ years of progressive software, infrastructure, and platform engineering experience, including 3+ years in direct engineering management leading distributed teams and 2+ years of DevOps experience .
  • Strategic Impact: Proven track record of managing multi-team organizations, owning operational budgets, and driving technical strategy for high-scale platform systems.
  • Technical & Domain Mastery
  • Language & Architecture Expertise: Hands-on background in Java (Spring Boot microservices) and Python (AI/agentic workflows, evidence verification processing); deep expertise in event-driven microservices (Kafka).
  • GCP & Cloud Infrastructure: In-depth knowledge of GCP platform services (GKE, Shared VPC, VPC Service Controls, IAM/Workload Identity Federation, Cloud Storage, Anthos Service Mesh) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
  • Media & Cryptographic Protocols: Experience overseeing asynchronous video processing pipelines (transcoding, live/recorded streaming) and cryptographic integrity standards (SHA-256 chain-of-custody protocols).
  • Security & Enterprise Integration: Solid understanding of modern identity and access management (OIDC, Workload Identity), secure zero-trust networking (mTLS, OAuth 2.0), and enterprise API integration patterns.
  • Target Base Salary Range: $155,000 USD - $180,000 USD
  • Consistent with the company values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
