Senior Java Developer - Vice President

Description

You will design and build high-performance, scalable backend applications that process data and support critical business operations. The role is part of a technology team that builds resilient backend systems handling large volumes of data, using Java and the Spring ecosystem alongside AI-assisted development tools and prompt engineering to speed delivery and improve code quality.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance backend services for data processing at scale, using Java and Spring.
• Architect efficient processing solutions for heavy calculations and complex business logic.
• Work with cross-functional teams to define, design, and deliver new product features.
• Improve backend performance, quality, and responsiveness across the platform.
• Find the root cause of system bottlenecks and bugs, then build durable fixes.
• Practise Test-Driven Development to improve testability, modularity, and test coverage.
• Tune SQL queries, data joins, and large data pipelines for reliable processing.
• Use AI-assisted development tools and prompt engineering to deliver faster and write better code.

Requirements

• 6+ years of hands-on experience building Java backend applications on Java 17 or later.
• A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Working knowledge of the Spring Framework, including Spring Boot, Spring Data, and Spring Cloud.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational or NoSQL databases, including tuning queries and data models.
• Understanding of loading data in memory and joining data efficiently in large pipelines.
• Experience with Maven or Gradle, JUnit, Mockito, and dependency management.
• Experience applying design patterns and architecture such as microservices and event-driven design, using Test-Driven Development and SonarQube to keep code quality high.
• Clear communication, with the ability to explain technical ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Beneficial: experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Beneficial: familiarity with containers and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes or OpenShift.
• Beneficial: knowledge of distributed data processing frameworks such as Apache Spark or Apache Flink.
• Beneficial: a Master's degree in a relevant technical field.

Conditions

Full-time position based in Tampa, Florida, United States.

Hybrid schedule: 3 days in the office and 2 days remote each week.

Base salary range of $113,840.00 to $170,760.00, plus possible incentive and retention awards for eligible employees.
