Senior Engineer

Description

The company builds and improves modern electronic trading platforms. You will work on an Agile development team in Cary, NC.

The role covers the full software development lifecycle, from gathering requirements and writing specifications to design, implementation and level-three production support.

The position is eligible for the company's Employee Referral Incentive Program.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance electronic trading platforms as part of an Agile team.
• Own the full software lifecycle: gather requirements, write specifications, design, implement and provide level-three production support.
• Write efficient, thread-safe, memory-conscious Java code for high-performance systems, using Collections, Concurrency, I/O, Streams, Lambdas and Optional.
• Build robust RESTful APIs with Spring Boot, using Dependency Injection and AOP.
• Create data access layers with Spring Data JPA and Hibernate, designing data models and managing entity relationships.
• Secure applications with Spring Security and stateless JWT (JSON Web Tokens) APIs.
• Build React frontends with functional components and custom Hooks that encapsulate and reuse stateful logic.
• Containerize Spring Boot backends and React frontends with Docker.
• Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines in Jenkins, GitLab CI and GitHub Actions that automate build, test and deployment for frontend and backend services.
• Deploy and configure application components on Docker and orchestrate them with Kubernetes using Helm charts.
• Run performance work: design and execute load and stress tests, analyse thread stacks, and optimise and tune SQL queries.
• Monitor OS metrics for CPU, memory and disk I/O using iostat, nfsiostat and Nmon.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Three (3) years of hands-on experience with the stack described in the responsibilities: Java, Spring Boot, Spring Data JPA, Hibernate, Spring Security, JWT, React, Docker, CI/CD tooling, Kubernetes, performance testing and OS monitoring.

Conditions

Based in Cary, NC.

Salary range: $132,000.00, $165,000.00 per year.
