Senior DevOps Consultant with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

Description

The team designs, builds and supports backend services that need to be reliable, secure and scalable across every platform layer. The work draws on virtualization, cloud platforms, storage, cybersecurity and scripting-based automation.

This is a senior consulting role at the company, focused on GCP-based DevOps work.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with customers and lead application migrations to GCP.
• Build infrastructure architectures and the technical documentation that goes with them.
• Lead mixed technical teams spread across regions, such as cloud and database engineers.
• Serve as the main technical contact for the customer's stakeholders.
• Build security, compliance and governance into both design and delivery.
• Design target state architectures for the application, data, integration and infrastructure layers.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management and testing.
• Track technical dependencies and reduce risk during application migration.
• Spot technical risks and problems early, propose ways to mitigate them, and follow them through to closure.
• Set the migration strategy, covering both lift-and-shift and modernization, and define the target architecture.
• Oversee delivery quality, risk management and automation practices.

Requirements

• A record of delivering cloud migrations of large enterprise workloads in regulated industries.
• Experience with architecture services.
• Solid understanding of core GCP services: compute, storage, networking, databases and security.
• Strong infrastructure-as-code skills, for example in Terraform.
• Experience with Kubernetes and database migrations.
• Experience with CI/CD for infrastructure automation using Azure DevOps or Cloud Build.
• Knowledge of data integration and ETL tools such as Informatica, and of modernizing pipelines for the cloud.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Preferred certification: Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect.
