Description

The company is a large technology client building Hyperscale Data Center facilities and other projects. You will run the design work for these projects, acting as the client's agent, consultant, advisor and authorised owner's representative from the first design phase through every design discipline until the project is handed to the client's construction team.

Most of the work is managing, coordinating and administering the design consultants the client brings in. You will take the program-level Plan of Record and adapt it into the local design for each site.

The ideal candidate is comfortable leading large design coordination sessions that bring together several design disciplines, including page-turn design meetings.

This is a remote role. You will travel to project sites in and around Atlanta, Charleston and Raleigh, about 30% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and kickoff workshops with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Run design reviews alongside external partners.
  • Host large-scale workshops when needed.
  • Write scopes of work for contracts and secure buy-in from internal stakeholders.
  • Issue contracts and manage them once in place.
  • Set out deliverables for each party and track their progress.
  • Monitor cost, schedule, progress and scope, and report on their health.
  • Assemble effective design teams from matrixed internal staff and strategically sourced external partners.
  • Manage changes to project scope and design contracts.
  • Guide technical decisions so they fit the project's needs.
  • Align design work with procurement and construction.
  • Keep communication clear and open with all internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Make sure engineering information reaches the right party, on time, in the correct format.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture or a related field.
  • Professional licensure (PE, NCARB or RA) is strongly preferred, though more than 10 years of significant professional experience may be accepted instead.
  • Experience with data center design or construction is preferred.
  • A solid grasp of construction principles and practices.
  • Experience preparing project plans and specifications.
  • Experience drafting scopes of work.
  • Experience with government regulations.
  • Experience managing several projects at once.
  • A working understanding of AutoCAD for drawing reviews and mark-ups is necessary.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of the role and must be followed where they apply.

Conditions

Remote work with travel to project sites in and around Atlanta, Charleston and Raleigh, about 30% of the time.

The company is an equal opportunity employer that welcomes applications from all parts of the community.

Benefits

  • The company supports a healthy, productive and flexible working environment that respects work-life balance, and gives each person a voice in change.
