Senior Data Scientist

Description

You will join the company as a Senior Data Scientist, building models, data sets and algorithms that inform business decisions.

The work supports eCommerce projects and involves close collaboration with teams and partners across the business.

Responsibilities

• Design custom data models that support new business solutions.
• Assemble complex data sets from internal and external sources.
• Run advanced statistical analysis to find trends and meaningful relationships in data.
• Build learning systems that process continuous data streams as well as offline data.
• Train algorithms to apply models to new data, then test and validate the models and algorithmic methods.
• Scale new algorithms so they work on large data sets.
• Combine data features to build search models that return the right results.
• Track new industry techniques and best practices, and apply current technology such as HBase, MapReduce, LAPack and Gurobi to assigned projects.
• Give analytical support to eCommerce project teams.
• Build models of the current state to identify the improvements needed.
• Work with cross-functional partners across the business.
• Use tools including MySQL, Hadoop, Weka, R, Matlab and ILog.

Requirements

• Hold a Master's degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, plus 1 year of experience in an analytics-related field.
• Or hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in one of those fields, plus 3 years of experience in an analytics-related field.
• Have experience preparing and cleaning large, complex datasets in SQL.
• Have experience with data analytics and dashboards in Microsoft Excel.
• Have experience writing Python scripts that schedule and run weekly summary statistics for metric tracking.
• Have experience with causal inference to estimate the impact of business strategy.
• Have experience building analytical dashboards in PowerBI, Data Studio or Tableau.
• Have experience with statistical tests such as A/B testing and T-tests.
• Have experience with customer analysis and predictive modelling.
• Have experience with descriptive analytics to predict and track business metrics, and with dataset analysis.
• Have experience running machine learning models.
• Have experience with data cleaning, pre-processing and building data pipelines.
• Have programming skills in C, Python and R.
• Graduate coursework, graduate research or professional experience with these skills counts, in any amount.
