Senior Data Scientist

Description

The company is a strategic AI partner to Fortune 500 companies.

The team is looking for a senior data scientist focused on generative AI, with at least 8 years of industry experience.

The role centres on extracting insights from text, using machine learning, statistical analysis and data modelling to work on complex NLP projects and surface meaningful patterns from large datasets.

Responsibilities

• Build NLP models for text classification, sentiment analysis, entity recognition and language translation.
• Apply machine learning and deep learning methods to pull useful information out of unstructured text.
• Clean and preprocess large volumes of text, including tokenization, stemming and lemmatization.
• Engineer features from text that improve model performance and capture semantic relationships in the data.
• Train, fine-tune and validate NLP models with suitable algorithms.
• Measure model performance with precision, recall, F1 score and accuracy.
• Run exploratory analysis on text datasets to find patterns, trends and anomalies, using statistical methods to understand their underlying structure.
• Work with data engineers, software developers and domain experts to fit NLP solutions into wider systems and applications, and help set project goals, requirements and deliverables.
• Improve the efficiency and accuracy of NLP algorithms, using parallel processing and distributed computing for large-scale analysis.
• Track new developments in NLP and machine learning and apply current techniques to hard business problems.
• Document methods, algorithms and code so work can be reproduced and handed over, and write clear project reports.

Requirements

• A Master's degree in computer science, data science, statistics or a related field.
• At least 5 years of professional data science experience with a focus on generative AI.
• Strong programming skills in Python or R.
• Hands-on experience with NLP libraries and frameworks such as NLTK, SpaCy or TensorFlow.
• Working knowledge of supervised and unsupervised machine learning.
• Experience with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
• A solid grasp of text mining, information retrieval and semantic analysis.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Clear communication and good teamwork.
• Plus: experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure and with big data technologies.

Conditions

The pay range is an estimate of $130,000 to $160,000. It is based on skills, experience, training, licences and certifications, and business needs, and it has not been adjusted for the geographic differential of the location where the role is filled.

Offers rarely land at the top of the range, and each pay decision depends on the individual case.

You may be eligible for a discretionary bonus for the current performance period.
