Description

The Ads Analytics team runs the data side of an advertising intelligence platform, handling terabytes of data each day from programmatic, social and search advertising. The team turns raw ad data into business insights and uses rich analytics data to build detailed sports audience segments.

The company is scaling quickly and needs a senior data engineer to own complex, multi-part data projects. Typical challenges include the following.

Responsibilities

  • Make large-scale ad data queries return in under a second, and build and run reliable ETL pipelines on Spark and AWS that handle large daily volumes.
  • Design scalable data processing systems and backend APIs or microservices in Python or Go, shape data flows that serve both batch and real-time analytics, and manage user-facing dashboards that show complex data.
  • Set up monitoring and alerts that catch data quality problems, manage AWS infrastructure with Terraform, apply CI/CD best practices, and keep high coding standards across data systems.
  • Lead large data projects from requirements through delivery, connect technical work to business needs, mentor colleagues, and explain technical topics to stakeholders, pushing back constructively on requirements where needed.
  • Own complex data engineering projects end to end, keeping data highly available and accurate for internal teams and external clients, promoting clean code, and guiding the team toward the right data solutions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of data engineering experience, including a record of leading complex projects from idea to delivery.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working in cross-functional teams with analysts, product managers and business stakeholders.
  • Very strong hands-on work with AWS services such as S3, Lambda, Glue, Athena, Redshift and EMR, plus proficiency in Apache Spark for large-scale processing.
  • Strong Python skills for data processing services and APIs, and expert-level SQL for processing and analytics.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Terraform and CI/CD pipelines, with automation practices suited to data systems.
  • Commitment to clean, maintainable, well-documented code with thorough testing, and a solid understanding of analytics and reporting needs.
  • Experience designing scalable data architectures, modeling data and optimizing processing workflows.
  • Experience building and managing analytics dashboards in BI tools such as Tableau, Qlik Sense, Quicksuite or Power BI, presenting complex insights to stakeholders.
  • Beneficial: experience with prompt and context engineering using GitHub Copilot, Claude or similar AI assistants.

Conditions

This role is fully office-based. Flexible working hours are offered, and exemptions may apply depending on location; your local point of contact can advise.

The minimum monthly salary follows the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Higher pay may be offered based on qualifications and experience.

The recruitment process has four steps: a short call with a talent acquisition partner, a 60-minute theoretical technical interview, a 60-minute live coding session judged on clean code and reasoning rather than the finished result, and a 60-minute system design interview. A final round with feedback follows, which may include an onsite visit, and then an offer if successful.

Benefits

  • Work with colleagues across Europe, Asia and the US in an international setting.
  • A defined professional and personal development plan that helps you shape your workday and career.
  • Access to senior leadership and room to grow in a fast-growing sports technology company.
  • Women in Tech and Pride groups, open to everyone.
  • Social events, sports and exercise activities, and team challenges such as ShipIt, darts and table tennis tournaments, and beer brewing contests.
  • Competitive salary plus benefits, including a retirement pension and an insurance plan.
  • The company covers the full € 365 cost of an annual Öffi public transport ticket for you.
