Senior Data Engineer

Description

The client is building its own Marketing AI product, which recommends products, bundles and promotions based on customer profiles, purchase history and behavioural data. The aim is more relevant suggestions, higher conversion and better profit margins.

This initiative is hiring two Data Engineers: one to build the customer data foundation, and one to connect customer platforms and communication channels.

The company is a technology firm with 20 years of experience, more than 1,200 IT professionals and clients in retail, manufacturing, finance and banking. It supports clients from ideation through to software development and managed services.

Responsibilities

• Design and build a scalable customer data mart that brings together loyalty attributes, wishlist and affinity data, and preferences users state in the app.
• Set up real-time data streaming between backend systems, the CDP (Zeotap) and the CEP (Responsys).
• Build and maintain reliable backend APIs so product teams can use customer data for personalisation.
• Model and transform data in BigQuery and Dataform, and orchestrate pipelines with Cloud Workflows, Cloud Scheduler and Eventarc.
• Manage infrastructure as code in Terraform and deliver changes through GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines.

Requirements

• You write production-grade Python and SQL at an expert level.
• You have worked hands-on with GCP data services, especially BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Cloud Run and Cloud Storage.
• You have used Dataform, Datastore, Cloud Workflows, Eventarc and Cloud Scheduler.
• You have built real-time or event-driven data pipelines.
• You have designed data models and marts for both analytical and operational use.
• You have built REST APIs in Python, ideally using Flask.
• You write infrastructure as code in Terraform (HCL) and run CI/CD with GitHub Actions.
• You speak English fluently and work well in an international team.
• You have integrated a Customer Data Platform such as Zeotap.
• You have worked with Oracle Responsys or another CEP such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud or Braze.
• You have worked with customer, loyalty or e-commerce data, including identity resolution.
• You hold the GCP Professional Data Engineer certification.
