Senior Data Engineer (Microsoft Fabric)

Description

The team builds and runs data platforms for clients, and this role centres on feature engineering and preparing data for modelling.

Responsibilities

• You will ingest data from source systems and engineer features that feed modelling data layers, and connect that data into models and workflows.
• You will design, build and maintain pipelines for ingesting, processing and transforming data using cloud services and other tools.
• You will build and manage data solutions in Azure using Data Factory, Synapse or Fabric, whichever fits the work.
• You will put validation and cleansing steps in place so the data stays accurate, consistent and reliable.
• You will make data pipelines more scalable, efficient and cost-effective.
• You will monitor pipelines, fix problems as they come up, and keep the data consistent and available.

Requirements

• You have solid Python skills.
• You understand data design principles such as Kimball and star schema, along with data warehousing and data modelling.
• You have strong experience with relational databases and ideally with NoSQL databases.
• You have a strong grasp of ETL and ELT processes.
• You have some exposure to data monitoring and observability tools.
